WJKK WJKF,

I want to become a granthi and serve my guru but I don't know how to. I don't read fluent gurmukhi, sometimes skip nitnem, and don't know a lot of gurbani. I live in US and don't have kesh. I don't know kirtan. I don't go to any gurudwara Punjabi school and I cant go. What can I do to become one. Please help me. I really need it.

I really need it.

veer ji! that's great that waheguru ji has blessed you with the desire to become a granthi because most of us would run away from even the thought of becoming a granthi!

firstly what I would suggest is do what you can so -

1) you should be able to keep your kesh easily

2) start making nitnem your daily routine without fail

3) start learning extra banis i.e. sukhmani sahib, do arthi after your reharas

obviously its going to VERY important that you do your paat sudh so try learning santhiya at home

^^^ Giani Takhur Singh ji is a reliable source!

also listen to Giani takhur singh jis larivaar katha on www.gurbaniupdesh.com because then you'll be able to understand what your read hence you'll do it with pyaar/sharda and also you'll be prepared to answer any questions.....

Then you could start doing sehaj paat maybe ? this way you will learn a lot.

^^^ this is a link to kids from baru sahib doing the most beautiful sehaj paat and the best thing is they have subtitles so even if you are unable to get a pothi sahib you can use this! But if are lucky enough to get a pothi then you can follow the paat on there!

As for kirtan - I'm trying to learn the vajja myself so what I would suggest is that if you don't know anything at all then that's great because you can start from step one!

choose what you want to learn - vajja or tabla or both

http://www.youtube.com/user/LearnKeertan/playlists

or visit www.kirtancollegemp.com

then just start helping out at a gurdwara and hopefully they'll let you join!

I know this may seem a lot but just remember at every step you'll be putting one step closer to Waheguru ji and Waheguru ji will run 1000 steps towards you!

So in other words just keep putting the effort in and Waheguru ji will make sure that the outcome is right!

bhul chuk maaf and God bless you!

please let us know how you get on because it'll just make us feel proud of you even more :)

VAHEGURU JI KA KHALSA, VAHEGURU JI KI FATEH

Where do you live (not the address, just general vicinity)? There may be facilities in your area you are not aware of.

But as Bhai Savinderpal Singh says - why the sudden urge? From the other post, you also have an urge to do Simran - are you Amritdhari? If not, that would be the first step to getting anywhere with both of these requests.
