Leather Items

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

I was wondering the other day if wearing/using leather products such as wallets, belts, shoes, purses, etc. is okay for us as Sikhs? What got me wondering is the vegetarian diet of a lot of Sikhs. What are your opinions?

It is totally fine. Our tablas in the gurduwaras are made of leather. Our gurus used to have leather stuff as well such as sheaths etc. Our nagaras were made with leather. Leather is not a bad thing. I have also seen puratan Singhs wearing leather gatras.

His intestines were made into gut and the skin was mounted (on a drum) and stitched.
ਸਾਦਸੰਗਤਿ ਵਿਚਿ ਆਇ ਨਾਦੁ ਵਜਾਇਆ।।
Now it is brought into the holy congregation where melody is produced with this instrument.

If u know animal was killed to make the items then Stop wearing them

If animal died naturally then sure turn it into drum or shoe or belt. Whatever but don't promote after all animals are gods kids too.

Definitely agree with above user. Keep diet what you see in most of our historical gurdwaras.

Your responses make sense. I have already swapped out my leather belt and wallet for non-leather ones. Now I need to find a pair of shoes that don't have leather in them.
