shameful, TPV should set up a new gurdwara, as it will be very difficult to change the committees - they have too much invested in keeping their positions. in the Sikh Channel debate the main parties focus was arguments over money and buildings, and only talked about Sikhi when the TPV person asked what their plans were to promote Sikhi. So disrespectful to our Gurus.

I can see that both points here have good positives and negatives about them. It would be great to see the youths club together and make their own gurdwara, but is this feasible given the cost of such enterprise? Are the youth generation ready and willing to give financial aid on the scale our parents generation did?

Setting up a new Gurdwara is not a solution especially as there are already eight Gurdwaras within a radius of 2 miles! The youth committee needs to grassroots work at least for 2-3 years with the youngsters in order to create a base and then take over the management of the Gurdwara.

The problem here, is that committees can and will create obstacles for effective parchar and grassroots networking in the gurdwaras. Especially if they see a threat to their positions as future committee members.

I'll give credit to TPV who only formed a short time ago and still managed to get a good foothold and spread a good message, it's a good sign for the future, having seen the kind of diatribe that has come out over the past few weeks on social media anybody would think these old timer parties are trying to get elected into parliament not a religious organisation which is meant to be a charity, it's such a shame that what is meant to be a house of god where we are meant to go to reflect on ourselves has become nothing more that a source of income for these old timer's, anyway, we all have to answer to the one in the end.

Another idea could be TPV set up a charity to do parchar and network with other Sikh youth from every Gurdwara and Uni Sikh Society in the UK setting out a blue print for the next step to be voted in. We are the next generation and we can place our money anywhere it will do good instead of feeding overweight people with 7 types of curry and 3 "deserts" in the langar hall giving them diabetes and installing fountains and marble arches in a new Gurdwara 6ft from another one in the same borough. Once a business stops making money then only the really concerned people take over so we should not dig deep to give to the committees but give money as seva for parchar and the needy direct. This way you will see many of the smaller Gurdwaras being forced to merge into one central one for each Town.

Sher group won aka Malhi and Co, TPV took 1000+ votes astounding since they had only joined the fight a few months ago..

I heard that Sher group won by about 500 odd votes. Does anyone have the exact figures for each person standing or committee standing. A youth committee now has 3 years in which to try and get elected. As long as they do good grassroots work among the youth then getting elected should not be a huge hurdle. It is the youth who are more likely to get their parents to vote for a particular committee rather than the other way round.
