Need Info On Sai Baba Of Shirdi

Recommended Posts

One of my hindu friend tells us a lot of things about the power of sai baba. According to Gurmat, what is the status of sai baba ?

Was he a fake saint ? Are there major contradictions between sai baba's philosophy and Gurmat ?

We don't have anything to do with any baba. So we don't know and neither we want to know about any such babas. Gurmat is believing and following Guru Granth Sahib and no one else.

Dear shastarSingh:

You just tell him lovingly, it is good what you say, but listen to me:

Sabna Jeea ka Iko Daata, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

And to this One Wahiguru alone, we bow and give our love and devotion.

babas, rishis, munis, avatars, devis, devtas,pandits...are nothing in comparison to Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

While Wahiguru is the priceless diamond, all others are mere stones....

Waheguru.

A saint can be from any religion and we should respect that. I have also heard the real one was a saint, found this too. But some fake ones exist.

I respect those that believe in God and don't mislead to worship themselves. Just because a saint or person is from a different faith does not mean I should not respect them coz they believe in God also. Exactly who are my own?

I respect who Maharaj ji defines as good and lead us the right way to Waheguru as in Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, they have bhagats from different faiths bani. I'm not worried about them, I think u are. It's the fake ones I don't respect.

Awwal Allah Noor Upaya Qudrat Keh Sub Banday

Aik Noor Keh Sub Jag Upajiya Kaun Bhale Ko Mandhe

God created light of which all the beings were born

And from this light, the universe; so who is good and who is bad.

This Das is nobody to judge anyone, but as far as I understand Gurmat, Saint is only that Purukh who comes directly from the abode of Sach Khand to our level, and as there we all know, it is only Wahiguru who exists there.

So let us take the support of Bani and satisfy our answers.

First of all it says:

Ik Onkar, Satnam.

The Bani tells us, He is the only one Lord, and His Name is Satnam.

And this Truth, is not only stated by our Guru Sahibans, but like all the true Gurmukhs in the SGGS as well.

One does not become a saint, by telling others to do good or remember gods, or by changing one´s attire, or by splashing ashes on one´s body, or by performing miracles and displaying powers, nor inducing us to chant bhajans of the different names of the gods..... no.... nothing of that sort.

Moreover the Bani, reminds us continouslly, that, to reunite our souls with Him, and for merging in Him, the need of Naam or Shabad is essential, by attchaing ourselves to its Simran, which then transports us to Sach Khand.

That is why it is mentioned: Nanak, Naam jahaaz hae.

Moreover :Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya.

As simple as that.

Of course morality is good and is an aid for spiritual progress, but only by being good and doing good, is not enough to get freed from this mayavee creation, something more is neccesary, it is important to attach ourselves to that imeprishable reality, that eternal and changeless Truth, which is Naam or Shabad, the essence of Wahiguru.

So, in this way, take the teachings of any true Saint, we shall find only three baselines in them, as well in the Bani itself:

1) Sadh kee sangat

2) Naam / Shabad-Guru

3) Satnam

Appart from these 3 points, everything is paraphernalia. When everything ceases to exist, these exist forever throughout the ages, the eras, the yugas....as designed by Wahiguru Himself, which no man, no power can change.

That is why Dhan Dhan Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj, tells us the following words in His Bani of Raag Gauri Guaarayree:

Jug Chaarae, Naam Outham Sabadh Beechaar.

Throughout the four ages, the Naam is the ultimate, reflect upon the Word of the Shabad.

So we can see, Gurmat is not difficult at all, it is we who just surf on the surface of the Bani, which is good than nothing, but the real value, and true wealth of the Bani resides in its depth, so by diving deep into it and doing accurately what it tells us to do, we can profit ourselves by getting freely the "akhoot bhandaar" in it, the spiritual treasure, which in short is got, only by His Simran.

Sorry, not only that wealth, but the owner, the maker of that wealth Himself, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Such is the mahanta of Bani....

Waheguru.

Avatars of gods, come to the earth, to restablish law and order of a spiritual order, to punish the evil doers, and and establish righteouness, and moral values once again.

On the contrary, Guru Sahibans, Sant Janas, Gurmukhs, Bhagat Janas, do not come to establish any law for improvement for peace or to make this earth a type of paradise, so that the people can live happily and in harmony.

Undoubtedly, moral values, are needed to tread the spiritual path, they are means, not ends.

Depending on moral actions alone, they are like golden chains on us, and thus we are still prisoners here in the creation.

But as said, the true Saints, come only with the message of Naam from Satnam, Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

They say, do whatever you may, but if you do not practice the devotion of Naam Simran, you shall remain prisoners in this creation.

They say, your True Home is Sach Khand, your True Father is Satnam, and the vehicle to reach there is the Shabad Guru/ Naam.

That is it, nothing more, nothing less.

Thanks to the Bani left by our Guru Sahibans, we are blessed with true discrimination, so that we live our lives according to Gurmat and free ourselves once and forever, by cutting all our attachments in this creation with the sword of Naam.

This means, we can not detach our attachments from the creation just like that, unless we attach ourselves with a higher power, which is Nam or Shabad.

And to attach ourselves with His Naam, is to meditate upon it, by His Simran alone.

Waheguru.

So many repeat this mantra " We don't believe in any Sant Babey, we only believe in Guru Granth Sahib Ji."

Yet in reality they don't follow one iota of what Guru Granth Sahib Ji say.

Shalok . Sant Saran jo jan parai so jan udhranhaar, sant ki nindha nanakaa bahur bahur avatar.

One who seeks the sanctuary of the Sants will be saved

One who slanders the Saints, O Nanak, shall be reincarnated over and over again.

Kabeer sayvaa ka o duay bhalay ayk sant ik raam raam. Jo data mukat ko sant japavai naam.

Kabeer, it is good to perform selfless service for two, the sants and the lord. The lord is the giver of liberation and the

saint inspires us to chant His name.

Mehmaa saadho sang kee sunhu mayray meeta. Mail khoee kot agh harey nirmal bhaay cheeta.

This is the glory of the saadho ki sangat, the company of the holy; listen O friend. Filth is washed away, millions of sins

are dispelled and the consciousness becomes immaculate and pure.

Really.

The problem is we dont know who to trust and who not to when it comes to sants or if they really are sants.

Nindiya of anyone is bad so best to avoid and just do nitnem, listen to gurbani and jap naam , take amrit and keep rehat.

The original question is lost- thete is a website where we can know about his life. His actions show he was muslim , but never bothered about what ppl felt about him .Now there is a whole lot moneymaking going in his name , and vested interests have taken over . Knowing about someone enables us to respond to querries better. If someone wants to know more , may search web for site of shirdi saidham

    • Nanaksar is not a cult, it is a legitimate samparda. However there are many offshoots which use the Nanaksar name and are indeed cultish. Many great Mahapurkhs and Brahmgyanis were from Nanaksar Samparda, truly Gyaan and Sharda da bhandaar. It's a shame people are abusing the name. Also it's worth noting many Nanaksar "Gurdwaras" are in fact, not Gurdwaras; they are called Thath - ਠਾਠ. These are more akin to ashrams and do not generally operate like regular Gurdwaras and therefore do not have a Nishan Sahib. Another one to add to the list of Canadian Nanaksar offshoots is Darbar Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji in Calagry - I think this is the Bulandpuri one. I believe this is the same group whos main Dera in Punjab currently has the tallest Nishan Sahib. Pretty cultish from what hear. Ravidassi Gurdwaras are just regular Gurdwaras which are run by the chamaar caste as Puzzled has said. They've in some way made Bhagat Ravidass Ji their patron saint given he was from the caste. Nothing wrong with it imo. The Jaikaara the OP refers to is: Bole So Nirbhey Sri Guru Ravidass Maharaaj Ki Jai. Most do the normal one too. But there's also the breakaway Ravidassis who made their own religion. They have shunned Sikhi. I don't know how many of these are in the west tbh. I was saddened on my last trip to India...was just checking out local pinds and in one of them, I decided to pop into the Ravidassi Gurdwara - there was nothing there, just a picture of Bhagat Ji. I asked an old bibi there what the deal was and she said we don't have Maharaaj Saroop, no Granthi, no nothing. This caste divide has lead to people making their own places of worship on principle but some of them are empty and these people are spiritually deprived....they honestly seemed helpless. I mean even one Sikh could at least just go and do Nitnem with them. Hopefully I'll be able to return there. Aaanyway, I think OP might actually be a troll....I mean he called Dhan Dhan Satguru Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji Maharaaj "Sikh Holy Book". And also welcome back Jagsaw Singh.
    • I'm talking about everywhere , my own cousin after money had been spent like water on her education as an engineer and her securing a well paid job was snapped up by her Hindu classmate , they even refused to come to Punjab to get their son married to her , and my army Major Mama  took that <banned word filter activated> and got her married there in maharastra . The other daughter is similarly surrounded by hindu 'admirers'. Younger sister of my childhood friend both amritdhari got her head turned by a hindu guy too , what I don't get is why would you go where people try to stop you from freedom of thought/faith/life by their very philosophy of life ? Oh well  guess it's a matter of sanjog
    • if that were true how would Ravan been invited to Sita's syambar , remember her father invited only the best and dharamic loki out of the kings and princes . Ram killed a shudra in the manner of an animal  that does not mean that person was an animal . Maybe you should listen to katha but Sant Singh Maskeen ji  about Ravan . Remember the victors rewrite the history to suit ....
