Does anyone know which 'tanti saaj' /'purtan' instrument is the cheapest? - apart from vajja, dholki, tabla

what would the price be (in pounds) if you brought it from india?

Any shops in Punjab that you would recommend?

if you want cheap, you can go to the "Old railway road, Jalandhar" and get some cheap instruments from Gujranwala Music House.

dilrubas about 8000, sarandas about 11000.

However if you are serious about learning and playing it best to get a good one from Raj Musicals in Delhi for about 17000 rs.

The price difference is worth the money. I have bought from both, and the Raj instrument is excellent.

current rate is about £1 = Rs96.

it will cost about £60 to get instrument send from india to UK.

Gurdial Singh and sons in Jallandhar produce excellent instruments. Dr Gurnam Singh and many Namdharis get their instruments from them. A forum poster talked about his experience of ordering a dilruba through Dr Gurnam Singh:

Bhaji, I don't know if Gurdail Singh is yet alive. But i know a few years ago he was in old age and had stopped making instruments.

rajmusicals.com i think or try a search and you will find it. their innstruments are expensive but worth the money. jalandhar instruments are only for really for kids or those not sure if its for them.

but even so, resale of raj instruments will still get original prices as they are in great demand in the UK at the moment.

even best but time consuming is if you go to india, go to delhi and buy one.
