What we need is quite simple. Parchar of sikhi. Parchar stopped in the 80s - 90s now look at us.

We need fearless parchar that too says we need fearless parchariks to spread dharam of Sikhi in Punjab and get the youth back on track just like Jarnail Singh did in the 70's and 80's. SIkh panth is fighting alot of issues which is nothing new to us, but to have issues like these missionaries that act like snakes and biting us from the side makes us look weak. Its time to act. Only time will tell what could happen in the future...

Yes Parchar is lacking , Christians , RSS, Cults and Muslims would get nowhere if we had strong parchar and knowledge of our history. The Sikh media in the UK though not perfect has had a great impact on Sikhs as have some of the Sikh films. Just think if all Sikh organizations in the Punjab could make an effort on Parchar.

Very true. But then think about it if we did great parchar to villages and many youth start changing I think it would get a government response in my opinion. To me that would be great to see educated Gursikhs who want to become parchariks and turn villages around today as it is very much needed from threats like RSS and Christian missionaries. Johny made a good statement on Christian missionaries even though we don't they they are a big threat why is that only in Punjab they are making conversions easily happen. Sikh panth in Punjab are fighting over a calendar issue and Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa issue and so many issues that distract us from other issues that continue to bite us. Another thing to add is that these Christian Missionaries tell Sikhs to keep their turban and beards and still be Christian............mindblowing isn't it.

Kharku Singh Ji. I wish we were ready for Sant Ji type Parchar. But we have too build up. Get people back into sikhi! Then build into getting out rights back. Sant Jibsaid Khalsa Raaj will come when we are all Khalsa!

Not just everyone become Khalsa but actually live a rehit life of a Khalsa. For example today's Khalsa is a very different Khalsa then of 200 years back where we had people like baba Maharaj Singh puratan shaheed who was 118 yrs old and still fought for Khalsa's rights and he said the day Sikhi decides to accept to live under slavery is the day Sikhi is doomed. Khalsa today including me should be working on our jeevan and help others stay on the Path of Gurus and then we will see people be automatically inspired by Khalsa to chak amrit. We have a long way to go Singhoooo.

I did some research on the Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, SGPC member mentioned in the article, helping ex-Sikhs back into the faith on her own initiative. She is the granddaughter of Master Tara Singh!

She has done some good things; spoken out against Kar Sewa Wale Babe who ruin our heritage and also declined to be part of Badal/SAD/SGPC move to excommunicate Haryana Sikh leaders who wanted a seperate Parbhandak Committee.

May she continue to do what she is doing, Waheguru bless her

As Sikhs we are taught to respect all religions, but must take care not to jeopardise Sikhi - I heard on the radio a few days ago that a Sikh welfare organisation was planning to give out xmas meals on Christmas day, with Christmas music playing, presents and santa hats - there must be good intentions behnd this but has to be a limit, we are not Christians. Why not hand the meals out on viasakhi?

What we need is quite simple. Parchar of sikhi. Parchar stopped in the 80s - 90s now look at us.

Exactly and we as ordinary Sangat, have a part to play in that parchar.

Enemies accuse us of being a religion for Punjabi's only ... then how comes almost 90% of ethnic Punjabi's are non-Sikhs ... how comes most of our Panj Pyare were non-Punjabi's ...

Enemies accuse Sikhi of being Jat religion ... then how comes 80% of Jats are Muslims and Hindu's ... and how is it that nowadays just under half of our population is from a historically Jatt tribal ancestry background (as opposed to the falsehood that the vast majority of Sikhs are Jatts as our enemies often accuse us due to people like KPS Gill and LT Gen Brar being so prominent).

Enemies accuse Sikhi of being against so-called scheduled castes, then how comes we have a greater percentage within our ranks than both Muslims and Hindu's ... Islam and Hinduism support caste stratification as part of their belief systems, yet Sikhi and the Khalsa Panth opposes the very concept of caste as we can see from 1699 ... where yet again history shows that a majority of our Panj Pyare were from so-called scheduled castes.

A new trend of claiming to be Balmiki and Dera Ballan is arising in Punjab ... because not enough of us are aware of who Bhai Jivan Singh Ji was (Gurdwara Sis Ganj Sahib) as the Muslims and Hindu's despised Bhai Jaita Ji for merely being a Bihari sweeper (in non-Sikh eyes) as the Muslim and Hindu writings of the time show ... or who Shaheed Bhai Sangat Singh Ji was (designated by Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj as leader of the Sikh Fauj) ... whilst our Muslim and Hindu opponents decried that the Sikhs were being led by a Chamar. Similarly, if we could only explain to the Muslims in east Punjab why Bhai Mardana became the first Sikh thanks to Baba Nanak many would turn to the truth of Sikhi as the first Sangat in Guru Nanak Dev Ji Maharaj's time was of half Hindu ancestry and half of Muslim ancestry all as one United Sangat.

The Truth of Sikhi is clear cut but we need to do our bit towards parchar both in our own words and deeds but also via our time and money. Perhaps we cannot do more than a month of parchar in our pinds but what we can do is ensure United Sangat Gurdwara's in all localities in the West and put an end to caste apartheid at matrimonial levels in the Diaspora as a pre-cursor to enforcing these changes back in Punjab.
