Recommended Posts

Did u listen to the show? It was embarassing. That pathetic journo frm india was basically a indian govt journo, n then that scumbag (hindu i presume), rang in and sed how indian govt shud control harmandar sahib coz of money/maya that needs 2 b counted, as if sikhs dont kno how to count etc.. Then he comes out with a typical hindu crap with "harmandar sahib was built before there was sikhi". Then u had liberal lefty hippy "sikhs" txtin in callin all those opposin the unesco/indian govt plans as 'extremists'. The panth is a joke. Also WHY WHY WHY, do muslims n hindus, always try tellin us, wat to do and wat r religion is and came from?

No i didn't unfortunately, i stopped listening to Nihal's show a few years back when i found they are basically an asian radio version of the Daily Mail, as far as the discussion on this topic, i'm sure it filled the hour with the usual nonsense.

Bibi Kiranjot Kaur (Granddaughter of Master Tara Singh) views as reported by Indian media -

http://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/chandigarh/Withdrawal-of-heritage-status-bid-for-Golden-Temple-was-wrong/articleshow/47057251.cms

What is interesting to note is she has not learnt from his grandfather's mistake of trusting Nehru and Gandhi during 1947 and how the entire Sikh nation was back stabbed just after 1947. This is something which Master Tara Singh accepted himself that he and other Sikh leaders during 1947 committed a blunder to join India when Sikhs just after 1947 were termed as Hindus in Indian Constitution and denied their right for a separate independent Sikh state within India.

Granddaughter of Master Tara Singh is now spreading false messages on this entire issue, it is just surprising to see we the same family lineage who earlier committed serious political mistakes, their children/grandchildren have still not learned from their mistakes and are committing the same mistakes, and Sikh Sangat making serious mistakes by electing them to SGPS. How can we even trust Indian Govt?

It is also interesting to see that Times Of India - a popular Indian print and electronic media interviewed Kiranjot Kaur in person on this specific subject matter and it interviewed just Kiranjot Kaur to publish views only from one side of the camp :). Indian intelligence/Indian media BRAVO :) !!!

Thanks to Sikh Council UK / Sikh media / Bhen Amarjit Kaur Jee and all those who signed change.org petition - as with just 16,000 petitions - a good lobbying and pressure was built and a healthy dialogue initiated with UNESCO.

Keep the pressure up ...

UNESCO clarifies that enlisting of Sri Harmandir Sahib in World Heritage List was a rumor

By SIKH24 EDITORS / In PUNJAB WORLD /

May 1, 2015

LONDON, UK (May 1, 2015)—Director of World Heritage Centre of UNESCO has clarified in written to Sikh Council UK that they haven’t received any application regarding enlisting of Sri Harmandir Sahib and also no discussion over this matter is going on in UNESCO. It is notable that rumors of enlisting Sri Harmandir Sahib in World Heritage list of UNESCO were wandering across Sikh circles from many days.

Reference No. 1858 in the list of Ministry of Environment and Forest reveals that Sri Harmandir Sahib was included in the first heritage list released on January 5, 2004. The Sikhs residing abroad took strict notice of this, but SGPC, DSGMC or Shiromani Akali Dal didn’t considered it important to raise issue with UNESCO for the removal of Sri Harmandir Sahib. According to UNESCO, only the Indian Government possesses the right in enlist or delist any place in heritage list.

On the other hand General Secretary of Sikh Council UK, S. Gurmail Singh Kandola has expressed deep concern over the rumors wandering in Sikh circles. He said that Sikhs should remain aware of these rumors.

So, countless hours or even day's on various Sikh tv channels spent discussing the issue, even a discussion on the BBC about it and all they really had to do was "communicate" with Unesco to find out the truth, maybe one day we'll realise that the old saying "don't believe everything you read" is there for a reason.
