So if a muslim pakistani guy and a sikh girl gets married, its different from a polish Christian women getting married to a sikh man. Cmon, fix up... they are both void marriages, both parties are in the wrong. If they want both guys and girls from our community should get married in a registry office.

A Polish Christian will have no agenda in converting the girl to gain paradise and have access to 72 virgins in the after life.

Contacted the gurdwara. The wedding is not happening,as it has been cancelled. Mission accaccomplished.

The questions are:

Why did the Gurdwara commitee take the booking in the first place, when they know that this is violation of maryada.

Have they really cancelled the wedding ? Where is the proof ? Are they lying to play down the issue.

If the general sangat didn't find out, I.e: by the card being sent to people on the internet, the Gurdwara would have gone ahead with the wedding.

Outcome ? The committee of Sheperds bush Gurdwara are greedy and corrupt, only interested in generating money rather than satkar and maryada.

They should be reported to the main Sikh bodies and Sikh channels to ask the committee to explain their actions.

Not limited to Sheperds Bush. Alice Way Hounslow Gurdwara frequently holds interfaith marriages. These committees are consumed and blinded by Maya. The only time the Gurdwara fills aside from one or two Gurpurabs or a 'famous' Sant/Kirtani in attendance is during weddings. Apart from the Gurughar in South Shields (Newcastle), I cannot think of many others that are not being run like a business. Someone has to pay for the upkeep of these Grand White Elephants..LOL

How dare you ask such a silly question! They're all totally behind her. They don't want her to ruin her life by being stuck in a loveless, arranged marriage to someone of her cultural and religious background, because, as we all know, love marriages are totally not built on physical attraction, and the love between the two partners in such marriages never fades or wanes at all resulting in no divorces ever. It's a universal truth. And you're an extremist... a God-forsaken terrorist for attacking the beautiful couple on their special, magical day.

/sarcasm

Because arranged marriages between two from the same community are so succesful?

None the less, Im glad this was stopped. If you want to marry outside your religion, go get a court marriage. Hate these liberals trying to enforce their views on religios institutions.

Understand family who made booking withheld groom's name. When Gurdwara found out cancelled. Groom was Somali Muslim. We can not blame Gurdwara if information is withheld.

Actually it is the Gurdwaras fault, they have a responsibility to ask the right questions especially with something as big as anand karaj bookings.

If they can't even ask simple questions like the name of the bride and groom, and fail to ensure that maryada is upheld, quiet simply they are incompetent and are not doing their jobs properly.

It's negligence and dereliction of duty by the commitee.

Personally I think they were aware of the grooms background and just tried to cash in on a wedding booking, after it back fired they're now trying to cover it up.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
