Uk-Sikh-Politician-Harassed-In-Dubai-Over-Kara-And-Wanted-To-Cut-It/

Recommended Posts

I just returned from dubai on a flight coming back from Delhi and the exact same thing happened ot me. The guy was a cocky young airport security guy and the exact same thing was said to me. Interesting thing was that there another aiport securtity guy was close by to the guy in question in a seperate counter and he was punjabi wearing a kara and he worked for what it seems like the same company. When I asked this punjabi guy he said these idiots don't consider anybody as humans other than themselves. I have seen quite a few people working there who wear a kara...the locals there have a very bad attitude problem.

When you have dodgy sub-standard journalism you can't really take everything you read as gospel. For a start, the headline says 'UK politician'. The man himself holds no office whatsoever. He wants to be a politician, but just because he wants to be that doesn't make him one. Secondly, the news peice ends with the words 'MP for Ireland'. :stupidme:

Anyway, I've read about this man before on Ulster news articles. He's a bit of a flamboyant extrovert character always craving attention but possessing very little actual substance. He's from Kent in England but was so desperate to represent the Conservatives, they (the Tories) granted him his wish and put him up as their candidate for a seat in far far away in Ulster that the Tories have abolsutely no chance of winning (even though Mr Bhogal has no ties whatsoever with that part of the world).

I've seen the clip of Mr Bhogal behaving in a immature and prank-like manner when conducting himself with Ed Milliband. I'm not Ed Milliband's biggest fan, but regardless, if he wants to be taken seriously in politics, he has to conduct himself in a professional manner.

Regarding the issue at hand, maybe an education and/or awareness course for the employee's at Dubai airport may be in order.

A politician is a politician... regardless of being elected or not? He IS a politician and "prospective" MP. All this talk of sub standard journalism, yet references to Ulster?....where is that btw? Ulster IS Belfast.

It's breathtaking just how little regard you all have for the satkar of Sikh principles and articles, dependant upon the character of the person being harassed/bullied/discriminated against.

Don't go to muslim countries? What a joke. Maybe Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji was wrong aswel?

I've been to Dubai three times and found it to be a safe place but the airport is lawless, it does not matter what religion you are some of the staff are power mad. Once I witnessed a poor muslim old man who was wearing shabby clothing declaring 3 small gold bangles for his daughters wedding, a staff member just grabbed them and put them in his pocket. And just waved him on the man was crying and quoting the Koran but the passport guy just kept on waving him on - I was getting quite angry and thought sod it I will make a fuss even if they stamp my passport with a black mark. The old man mad such a scene that he got his bangles back but the way it played out you could tell this sort of thing must happen every day. Now if I travel to such countries I tend to stay near other singhs so that at least there is strength in numbers.

Ulster IS Belfast.

No, my friend. Belfast is 'in' Ulster.

For example, lets suppose the dog is in the kennel. The dog being in the kennel would not mean you could come out with the statement 'Kennel is Dog'. Ya get me bruvs ?

All this talk of sub standard journalism........?

The news piece calls a "UK politician" a prospective "MP for Ireland".

If mixing up totally different and seperate independant countries is your idea of good journalism then at the very least you should consider raising your journalism expectations and standards ever so slightly.
