Do we mean Sikhs before Guru Gobind Singh were not true Sikhs?Guru gave the freedom to choose.Ram Kuer, mama( maternal uncle) of Tenth Guru did not take amrit, though he was staying with the Guru and looking after the household.Guru desires that Sikhs undergo amrit ceremony but His "nadar" is not limited to them.

Hmm I feel the same way as you sometimes. Sometimes I get just so scared after thinking of narakh etc (because I think I am such a paapi person wasting my life by not taking Sri Amrit), and I do phat daily/don't cut hair/vegetarian/no drugs (not even coffee/chai lol), but I feel it is not enough and I need to take Sri Amrit. The thing is, I'm trying to still pronounce Gurvani properly, since I clearly cannot pronounce some words in Sri Gurmukhi.. I just want to be fully ready to take Sri Amrit, my biggest fear for the past few months have been that I'd die before taking Sri Amrit which is such a scary thought.. If I die right now I honestly wouldn't know what to say in narakh. Just thinking about this is freaking me out and I start doing har hare/narayan/Sri Vaheguru jaap.

yeah exactly, I don't feel I'm ready to take Amrit and if I did I feel I'd be doing a disrespect because of my lack of knowledge at the moment about prayer and Gurbani
