Which Is A Better Job For A Spiritual Lifestyle?

Recommended Posts

My intention wasn't to offend anyone, but really how many people like that have you come across? I think everyone even pasus are aloud to take part in dharm, but do they all necessarily understand? I'm sure there are many healthy people who don't understand it either, so it isn't exclusive to just them..

Hmm yes that is true. If they lack the skills to not be able to speak phat outloud it is fine for them to meditate internally, but when someone can pray outloud.. then why not? I personally like to pray outloud because it helps me understand, and I know for sure that I have recited each of the lines..

Many people I have come across like that really. What is pasus?

That's the keyword there, you personally. You shouldn't assert what you think as fact. Some people prefer doing phat in their mind, and yes they can comprehend it as well.

I think that can go both ways, you personally think your way too, and I think my way. Hmm, I'm sure they can, but it is preferred to be recited outloud if the person has been blessed with speech.

By whom lol.

Yes it can go both ways, but usually you make some outlandish view point (such as Hindu's being Sikhs lol) without any decent evidence to back it up.

Today I was just surfing on the web, and I found the following article interesting, which may answer the question of this thread:

Said the Master to the businessman: “As the fish perishes on dry land, so you perish when you get entangled in the world. The fish must return to the water — you must return to solitude.”

The businessman was aghast. “Must I give up my business and go into a monastery?”

“No. no.

Hold on to your business and go into your heart.”

The main thing I see and understand from the article above is that, one may be in the world, as much only is required, not more, otherwise we may become entangled in it.

As there is almost nothing which happens according to our wishes(for example the work we may have or do), so better attend to it as Hukum, and then do the real job of bhajan bandagee, cherish true love for Him in our hearts, and seek Him in the depth of our beings, there where He resides.

Then, only when we see Him within us, shall we see Him everywhere, not otherwise round.

People who gave up stressful Corporate Jobs and started doing Farming

http://www.thehindubusinessline.com/portfolio/mutual-funds/charm-in-their-own-farm/article6799320.ece

Vinu Kurien quit his bank job after a 12-year stint. He is now farming cardamom in Kerala. What drove him to give up stable employment and try his luck with the high-risk farming business? “The corporate rat race was getting overheated. Stretching work hours began to eat up my holidays. So, quality time with family was something that I could see only in movies,” says Vinu. Likewise, for Ramkumar, who gave up his high-flying IT job as a senior software consultant at Credit Suisse, Singapore. The promise of a peaceful life amidst verdant fields drew him to agriculture.
Less money, more smiles

How has the career shift changed their lives? “I have gained back my smile and lost a few kilos,” says a smiling Vinu Kurien. “I now have the freedom to plan my travel without having to wait for approvals. I have more time to spend not just with my kids and immediate family but also socialise with my extended family. In contrast, when I was employed, I used to come home very late, only to see my children fast asleep,” recalls Vinu Kurien.

Going a bit further with this present topic..... whether if we get jobs of our choices or not, there is definetely something to keep in mind always, as we never know what have we got to face .

And that point is mentioned in the following lines.

Someone once asked a mahatma, Sir , in case of doubt, how to differentiate what is paap or punya (sin or virtue)?

The answer given was: anything that takes you towards Wahiguru, is punya; and anything which takes you away from Him, is paap, and one should definetely avoid it.

Now, some may believe, if I kill anybody in god´s name, I will definetely go to heaven. That is ignorance, that is fanatism, that is evil.

God resides in every heart, and to just give pain or trouble someone for any reason, is an open invitation to ourselves to go direct to hell.

Let nobody remain in delusion, if there is any jugtee to make us merge in Him, that according to the Bani, is first His apaar Grace, without which we can never ever think even of Him, and secondly, as the Bani says: Jin Har japeeya, se Har hoeeya.

That means, only by His Simran, can we remove the filth of karmas upon us, and thus become pure paviter to merge in Him. This is Gurbani, this is Gurmat....anything apart from this, is definetely "manmukhta".

We should try to remain satisfied at all times, as we have to settle our karmic debts with those which we interact. All relations of familiy, friends, foes, work, etc are are due to our karmic settlement with them, and the law of karmas is so strict that nobody can escape from it, so there we hardly have any free will.

On the contrary, there are no such restrictions of any kind in doing the bhakti of Wahiguru Akal Purukh; for that is the only true wealth which we shall carry with us on our departure from this plane.

So if we have even a penny of common sense, we should gather it, as much as we can, and that means to be consciouss at all times of this golden opportuniy of human birth, given to us as a blessing from Him, so that we do His devotion with all our heart and soul, and that too as said before as much as we can. Of course Maya and vices/vikaars are there, but with the aid of Bani, and by practicaly applying it in our lives as means of His devotion, we shall overcome all these obstacles in due time.
