Actually the problem is about the same, except people here don't go around mating with Muslims because of Islamophobia. Also Jews have quit about caring about interfaith marriage since its a battle they've already lost.

The reason could be because the children will be raised Jewish anyway.

JSinghnz has raised a very important point. Its not just about the promiscuity of our girls but why are our girls clubing and drinking heavily when when they start attending university? Something is seriously wrong with the way we raise our kids. We follow this bhangra culture of going to parties, our kids grow up watching their dads and uncles drinking heavily and while their mothers and aunts dance in front of unknown men to kaam filled bhangra music. Then to top it all off the kids are exposed to western culture where there is nothing considered wrong with having inter religious relationships. When our kids grow up watching this instead of doing nitnem, gurbani santhiya and having zero exposure to what our rehit, ithihas and gurmat sanskars are as they ought to be then we should not be surprised they end up the way they do.

But isn't this issue worldwide at present time? Western culture Di agh India, Punjab ch v lagi a ji.

To answer this we need to first ask Why Have The Sikhs In INDIA Failed To Follow The Basics Of Sikhi.

The averager resident in punjab can speak and read the language so there's nothing stopping them in connecting with Gurbani, they have alot of Itihasic land from which they can gain inspiration.

Simply because when the very first elders come over abroad, they did work such as labourers, factory, truck drivers, manual work, etc, remember they had less education opportunities, and many of them could not read or write.

The average resident of Punjab is nowadays is more connected with Bollywood, and Hindi is spoken in the children's schools, thus the shift from being "Punjabi", but more English.

Jsinghnz, brush up on your english.

Secondly, you seem to make many generalised statements, blowing the whole thing out of proportion. Have you been to the uk? How many such cases do you personally know of? Its funny because as i resident of this country, ive very rarely heard of such cases. About as rare as they may be in the americas. Girls running off with muslims, christians, hindus etc.

Also, you talk asthough the whole uk sikh population has no sikhi. Sikhs have flourished in the uk, sikhi has flourished! More so than any other country. Sikhs are the second most successful religious group in the uk, the jews being the first (obviously).

Yes...its quite common to see british sikhs shouting from roof tops demanding a british takht. Lol jsinghnz, youre deluded my friend.

You usually have a problem with people discussing sikh/islamic issues on this forum yet here you are with one of your own

"The Sikh Holy Book includes writings from other Holy Books including the Koran", says Ms Dhami

Ignoramus. A lot of these liberal Sikhs agitating for sweeping reform don't seem to know anything about the religion they are so keen to dissect. If she knew anything about Sikhi she would realize that only Sri Akaal Takhat Sahib has the power to legitimize any move with respect to conduct within Gurdware. The Malik of Miri Piri himself declared thusly. Petitions be damned.

Bro, do u have twitter? If so, cud u PLEASE correct this dumb liberal b!tch, coz we cannot let her get away with writing absolute disgraceful n most of all incorrect inacurate stuff about our SGGS!

Im gona start a thread on this disgrace, and try n inform other sikh orgs n ppl, like basics of sikhi, sikh2inspire, sikh youth project, sikh youth birmingham/derby. This silly dopey cow shud be hounded into submission. Shes already acquired 44 signatures.

Starstriker,

Using words like "dumb " and " dopey cow" isn't going to help your cause. Rather, it'll further the argument used by the 'other side', that the mixed marriage debate has been hijacked by sad, single men unable move with the times who wish to "control or suppress women".

Geezer im findin it hard to tolerate this hippy nonsense man, and wen it gets to ppl now sayin that "The Sikh Holy Book, The Guru Granth Sahib Ji, is the only Holy Book that includes writings from other Holy Books including the Quran.", wat u expect ppl like us to do? Heres the full article this individual has written. Also it isnt jus men who oppose mix marriages in sikhi, theres jus as many women who do, look at online comments on this topic. Married and single sikhs oppose this.

Heres the link to her article.

I'm afraid not.

Her petition is even being signed by non-Sikhs. Look at the names.

Since when did 'Andrew Sefton' and 'Smrithi Vipinachandran' have a say in matters of the Sikh religion?

Chalo im quite pleased non-sikhs r signin this, it means, actual sikhs will hopefully have read that crap and laughed n thought wat a load of tosh! Y support some1, whos gona write that inaccurate nonsense?

It really does not have anything to do with humanity or equality.

What it is really about is the Solipsism of the Bridezillas among our community.

The selfishness and self-centredness of these types, who look down other Sikhs, think of themselves as too good to even go into Gurdwara.

If they want to marry someone outside of Sikhi, go get a registry marriage.

But no, they cannot get away from their photo opportunity and the attention-wh****ng because they want to show off wearing the latest lengha and all bling jewellry attire to make all their fellow female peers jealous.

Couldnt have said it better sajna. By marryin a non-sikh ur automatically kind of not givin a damn about the dharam itself....so oh yea lets get married in that ceremony, which i dont give a damn about!? Makes absolute no sense man.

Whats very very ironic of this all is, she claims her self as 'half sikh/hindu' coz of her parents bein 1 of each. So theyve raised a confused women, who cannot profess allegiance to 1 dharam, n now she wants to allow others to have confused kids in mix-faith marriages, jus like her own mum/dad have done!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
