Hello,

I believe in God but not in the concept of Nirgun and Sargun. How can Sikhs call themselves "monotheistic" and then basically worship the Gurus?

If the Gurus were all divinely guided, then why did many of their own sons try to establish their own religious sects?

If reincarnation is true, then what did the Jews do to deserve the Holocaust, or the Bengalis for the famine of 1943? If they got justice by suffering for their past sins in this life, then we shouldn't feel sorry for them because they deserved those horrible things.

Do you believe the universe and our souls are eternal, that is, without a beginning?

If Sikhs were meant to show guidance to the whole world, how come they can't even enjoy superiority in their own land of origin?

Sikhs can only guide whole of humanity and get their homeland if they work for it. There is no chosen people, no one God treats more special than another. There are rules to this universe that apply to all. So like everyone else Sikhs must work for any success. That means firstly being Sikhs following sikhi no matter how hard and secondly we have to work to get our homeland such as using politics etc.

We can be monotheistic and worship the gurus the same way Christians can believe in Jesus and God,the same way the

Catholics can believe in holy triniy and God same way islam can believe in Satan n God. Basically compared to these believes we are monotheistic. We Believe Everything is God and also that he has no one like Satan opposing him. On the other hand we can believe that there is 1, and he is in charge but he is not the only 1. There are others below him like the devtas n he can also manifest in many forms such as the gurus. So if u dont believe in sargun nirgun, do u believe god lives away from this world. Maybe up above in some castle? He decides not to intervene at all, no matter the attrocities or requests n begging n praying?

The famine has to be due to karma but the holocaust could have been caused because we have free will. So hitler will be punished for it. Or it could be karma. How would we know what they did. There could be many explanations. Maybe they were the army of ghenghis khan or other invaders that looted n killed n pillaged ppl for greed. Famine could be same thing, slaveowners who starved the slaves or peasants while making them grow n collect food for themselves. Who knows? Who cares? Justice has been served or of this is a atrocity comitted by free will not caused by karma then justice will be served. But who r we to judge ppl n leave them to their fates? We ourselves we dont know wat we could have done so we are in no position to condemn others. Also if u treat others good no matter who they are or who they were, ur karma will become good. Also we can never be sure if somethings happening due to karma or freewill.

Our souls and the universe had a beginning. Maybe even multiple beginnings n endings. When our soul was separated from the Primal Soul ie God, our souls came into existance. When God chose to manifest the universe with the big bang, it began. N it will end the same way, by merging back. Only the immortal one is Eternal. (Sat Sri Akal

As to the gurus sons. The gurus didnt give out enlightenment for free. All have to work for it as per the law of the universe. Nothing is free. So the sons had to work for it, but they probably took it for granted. Why woud the gurus play favortism n make their sons automatically elgible for liberation. No all have to gain it by personal effort.

Muslims don't worship Satan. Muslims believe Satan is a creation of God and All good and bad comes from God as a test for human beings.

She raised many interesting points. Many Sikhs themselves don't even know about the deviances of the sons of the gurus.

Guru isn't plural. There is one Guru. We don't worship the form of the Guru, we worship the infinite light and wisdom of the Guru, i.e. God.

If the Gurus were all divinely guided, then why did many of their own sons try to establish their own religious sects?

Is there a rule that says their children can't try to establish their own religions? I'm not sure why this matters.

what did the Jews do to deserve the Holocaust, or the Bengalis for the famine of 1943?

Sikhs are not concerned with why God does what he does. Ideally we would accept His will and continue trying our best to serve and improve humanity. So no, I'm not going to answer your question about why things happen and if people deserve it because 1. I don't know and 2. I don't care. Sitting around wasting your time and depressing yourself with unanswerable questions is not chardi kala. Going out and living righteously is.

Do you believe the universe and our souls are eternal, that is, without a beginning?

God created the universe and souls, so they're not eternal. Only God is eternal and without beginning.

If Sikhs were meant to show guidance to the whole world, how come they can't even enjoy superiority in their own land of origin?

Again, your first statement has nothing to with your second statement. Showing guidance to the whole world(a purpose you just made up) has nothing to with controlling land. "Enjoying" superiority sounds awful anyways. If we want political power, we will get it through hard work, it's not going to fall in our laps because we're not God's chosen people as a brother/sister mentioned earlier.

Also, you couldn't sound more like a Muslim if you tried. You never used "we, us, or our" and instead used "they, their, Sikhs".

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
