Is It Time To Give Every Sikh A Copy Of Sggs Ji?

Having witnessed countless incidents of saroops of SGGS Ji being burnt and mistreated over the years and Sikhs getting worked up and even killed for protesting against the desecration.

Is it now high time that SGGS Ji copy's are handed out to every Sikh and every non-Sikh that wants to learn about Sikhi instead of giving saroops out to people incapable of protecting the sanctity of it?

If we take a look at the abrahmic cults of Christianity and Islam one of the major reasons they spread was the ability to hand out copies of the Quran and Bible to non-believers so that they could read too and learn. If Sikhs started to do this we will see a many fold increase in our numbers. We will have the ability to take over populations and lands occupied by these backward cults and also take out the power of people inflicting harm to saroop of Guru Ji. As there would be millions of copies, they can take out a few saroops like back in the days to try and halt and disrupt the spread of Sikhi but once there's millions of copies they cant stop the tide of Guru's ideology reaching billions.

Another reason why Sikhs revere the saroops of Guru Ji is because it was hard to hand copy them and there was only limited numbers of these saroops back in the days. So these scriptures had to be protected as if the hand written book prints was the actual living Guru cos the anti-Sikh fascists wanted to wipe out all traces of our religion by destroying the saroops. And now that we have tech to mass reproduce the scriptures there is no excuse for not doing this.

Thanks to digi tech & Sikh Scholars you don't need a hard copy to study Gurbani.

If any non Sikh enquires about Sikhi then it's best to provide links such as

Srigranth.org

Searchgurbani.com

Sikhanswers.com

Parcharaks in India never got to do Gurbani Veechaar. They were told to focus on recital & grammar along with story books.

Stereotypes can't even convince punjabi's or sardars so how can they impress others!

and then what seeing saroops thrown around here there and every where is your akkal in your gitey? already because there are too many padd chedd saroops printed this is happening . I mean the kanjars at SGPC authorised prints of padd chhed by outside agencies and have been dispatching the same everywhere including radha soamis, RSS mandirs etc . Look at all the pictures from beadbhi sites they are all barring one pothi SGPC PADD CHHED saroops .they have been going against the rules for YEARS and not one person complained ....now no one knows how many and where these saroops are installed.

Remove and Destroy all non larvivaar saroops is the answer , all saroops should be larivaar only , handwritten and maintained by local sangat, guarded by same . No pothi, steek,or gurbani in any form should be sold only given this is Guru ji's bachan the sooner we return to respecting his wishes and rehit the sooner raj will come. if a dharamshala or gurdwara wants to have a larivaar saroop then they have prove they have means for satkar and security.

If we show respect it was not because it was handwritten but because we valued it truly ...watch what happens when you don't value your scriptures by what happens to bibles , they are left in hotel rooms at the mercy of everyone , are subjected to beadbhi just like qurans etc ...better to have electronic apps to teach reading larivaar by perhaps colouring alternating words until you can understand and to do your individual paat from , and make it necessary to go and physically do darshan of Guru ji at a well guarded , manned sikh dharamshala.

As far as I know only the Torah is not printed and distributed and there is no problem of beadbhi ...may be we need to go back to our roots not just forward with technology.

p.s. destroy all printing press permissions especially the one in China

Agree. Ik gaj di akal nahi Jeb ch. if you start doing that, then people won't even bother to go to matha tek to Maharaj Ji at Gurdwara. Noji don't want Guruji to be technology only.

So have a limited number of saroops? You are thinking like a dinosaur aren't you

I fundamentally disagree with that old style thinking on this issue. The reason why we matha tek to the saroop is not because of the physical book and paper but because of the knowledge contained within the scriptures.

Our simpleton punjabi pendu's will needlessly die saving the honour of the physical book but will not die to learn what Guru Ji is saying in the scriptures and rather be stuck in the past or take things literally when they are meant metaphorically.

The book back in the days was easy to attack by anti-sikh people who were persecuting and exterminating the Sikhs to extinction so thus the limited number of saroops had to be guarded as if it was the living Guru himself in that form. Now that we have electronic media we can let Guru Ji be accessed to billions of people.

In a way you have a point about beadhi happening more often if more copies are printed but now that we live in a modern electronic tech age.... say if someone wanted to print a copy of SGGS Ji out and burn it no one can stop that happening. And that saroop of the home printed out copy is just as valid as the one contained in some highly decorative book paper and binding. It will be still sacrilege.

So we need to understand it was the Sikh ideology (within the scriptures) that the muslim zealots and the hindu kings with brahmin priests were trying to destroy not the physical book for being as if it was living Guru. The knowledge the ideology within the scriptures was their goal to destroy because it lifted people out of the slave mentality of arabramic cult islam and brahmin hegemony of hindu caste system.

Now we have dinosaur Sikhs like yourself who don't want to spread Sikhi but want Sikhi to be contained to a small sect group of gyani's who can actually read gurbani but rather be watching porno on their mobile fones when they think no one is looking or falling asleep cos they bored of reciting the same hymns day in day out. And kids not understanding or caring for what Guru ji is saying cos they don't understand gurmukhi so think we worship the physical book like its some kind of hindu idol.

THe BOOK??? you need to get out of this forum now ...you are no SIKH

you can learn to read larivaar everyone used to , only lazy giddards like you want to remove all respect for the physicality ...when all saroops are gone the way of the dodo what's to stop someone incrementally changing gurbani ...they already have ...Sant Singh Khalsa has changed the meanings of Gurbani translations for the youth to support anti-gurmat practices . People used to scribe Gurbani to a high level of artistry , paint murals in gurdwarey , know tanti saaz and gurmat sangeet but next you'd be saying why do that , why sing kirtan or learn gurmat sangeet .

I want people to up their game and actually go to dharamshaley , make it centre of their lives not an afterthought . I want Dharamshaley to be a place of learning, community, physical training as it used to be : we are too soft a target. It is good to be open hearted but people have taken it too far and not learnt the other advice of Guru Ji do things for yourselves, govern yourselves, if the law is injust ignore it and set up true justice, do not trust people who promise you much they will never deliver.

book
bo͝ok/
noun
noun: book; plural noun: books
1.
a written or printed work consisting of pages glued or sewn together along one side and bound in covers.
"a book of selected poems"
Seems to me it matches the definition of the english word "book." The OP also has a point that many people are caught just up with the phyiscal form of Guru Granth Sahib Ji and don't care so much for whats within it. But like others have said we are in a electronic age, instead of handing out copies to everyone, we should take advantage of the technology available.
