UPDATES ON HANDING OVER MEMORANDUM TO THE INDIAN HIGH COMMISSION, MALAYSIA.

27th October 2015.

1) On 19th October 2015, the Sikh sanggat gathered in Sabha House, KL to draft a memorandum which was then signed by 30 Sikh Organisations and 125 Gurdwaras across Malaysia in support of the memorandum.

2) On 27th October 2015, representatives from the Malaysian Sikh community and organisations met Rajiv Ahir, Counsellor, High Commission of India and handed over the memorandum at 3.50pm in the High Commission Office.

3) Our representatives urged the Indian Government to issue a statement condemning the desecration of the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and ensure that the police brutality and human rights violations will stop.

4) Mr. Rajiv had assured us that the memorandum would be delivered to the Prime Minister of India and the Chief Minister of Punjab, through the right channels, and that the Indian Government is looking into this matter closely. He also clarified that the Government of India does not condone the acts of sacrilege as committed against the Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji.

The peaceful assembly would not have been a success without the overwhelming support of 1,000 Sikh sanggat from across the nation. We would like to thank each and everyone, from near and far, in coming together and supporting this cause. We would also like to apologise for any shortcomings.

Thank you.

WJKK WJKF.

Task Force,

Organising Committee.
