No one from the SGPC definitely. That party has made a fake fairy story to justify it's ascension to power. I personally think the following:

Bhai Satnam Singh Ji should be elected as Jathedar of Akal Takhat. Baba Swarnjit Singh Ji Baba Bakala should be elected as Jathedar of Damdama Sahib. Gyani Partap Singh Ji should be elected as Jathedar of Patna Sahib. Bhai Ranjit Singh Ji should be elected as Jathedar of Anandpur Sahib Ji and Ram Singh, a Punjabi Sikh who has no connection with Hazoor Sahib, should be replaced with a Hazoori Singh or Kaur.

Secondly, in due time Takhat Damdama Sahib should be declared as a non-Takhat. Why? Because it was in the 60's that it was made a Takhat or before that it was the Budha-Dal Chalda Vaheer and its core nucleus of five Gursikhs who were the 5th Takhat. This Takhat had the power to investigate all doings of the other four Takhats and bring the guilty to the fore and penalize them. Please see:

So if you guys want to get rid of this voting system, what do you want to replace it with? I suppose the system somehow comes to life and forces the voters to give Badal power?

HUKAMNAMA! (Of both the Punj Pyare and Guru Granth Sahib)

How will the panj pyare be appointed, or by who? There will be ZERO voting in this sikh political reform? So many people seem to be in favour of change on this board, but no one has yet posted a plan.

Each of the main Jathabandis pick one, or chosen at the Sarbat Khalsa. (This will be my last post on this topic, as this isn't really going anywhere).

from my research the jathedar of akaal takht has always been a nihang up until british created sgpc. personally i would like to see baba nihal singh ji harianbela.. reason being he is soo saintly with a soldier attitude..shows so much nimrata aswell as standing againt tyranny.. he is jeenda shaheed took bullets for maharaj, also stood with sant jarnail singh ji and got tortured when most nihang dals did not get involed in 84...i respect this man...

he is also politically astute which one may deem to be a 'sell out'..its not about josh bravado but intelligence which guides josh eventually leading to bravado..

well thats my two cents..lol...vaheguru ...vaheguru...vaheguru

What your basically saying is you'd rather have 3HO and their liberal thoughts as the way the Panth should go? Sikhi is very hard, not easy. Also you ignore their negatives being racist to Punjabi Sikhs, like you are also being casteist to Khatri Sikhs. Is that really Sikhi?

I'm not "basically" saying anything. Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji is not 'basic' anything. It is complete and supreme on every aspect of life.

As I stated before, the names on the poll get driven around in monster jeeps that destroy the environment and live in monster homes built by cutting down trees and nature that feed the water table of Punjab that (or at least DID) keep the rural nature of Punjab intact. So basically on a very basic level my question is why are 99% of the names on the poll people that have so little gyan about the teachings of Gurbani and nature ?

If some of us truly believe being politically aware = a sellout then we haven't got a hope in hell, lol.

I suppose the statesmanship displayed by Guru Hargobind Sahib in his dealings with the butchers of his father, and Guru Gobind Singh's numerous dealings with the Mughals would've had them labelled as political sell-outs by the armchair brahmgianis that litter the modern Sikh faith.

What a joke.

BTW, inbetweener, I know you were making a point and not passing judgement. Thought I'd make that clear if it wasn't already so.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
