Ex. Jathedar Jasbir Singh Rode

Recommended Posts

what mess was this, and how did Shaheed Gurdev Singh Kounke clear it up?

Operation Blackthunder 1986. Blackthunder 1988 is more famous but an operation of the same name occurred in 1986.

Rode worked with the CBI to plant government agents within Darbar Sahib to infiltrate those brave warriors who were sacrificing their lives for the panth. Several hundred of these warriors were tortured to death by police thanks to anti-sikh Rode.

Jathedar Kaunke cleaned up the mess left by Rode and rid Darbar Sahib of these CBI agents.

Jathedar Kaunke is the last true great leader of this kaum. I hope another Bhindranwale or Kaunke emerges to lead the panth.

I've never heard anyone say positive things about Jasbir Singh. Hell, I have a friend who is practically part of his family and he tells me there is no bigger badmaash/sell out. The ISYF back in the 90's clocked that he was a tout and it was well known he had close ties with the GOI.

Was under the impression Panthic.Org was affiliated to Babbar Khalsa and AKJ?

So what happened with the ISYF regarding Bhai Jasvir Singh?

From what I recall he was in prison and flown into Amritsar on a state helicopter, on the conditions that he would control and possibly bring the militants to a negotiation point. I assume if negotiations had been successful he would be given some sort of position of power in a greater autonomy Punjab. In the end however, the State and

militants stopped paying too much attention to him.

For the record I am not saying he was 100% to destroy what was going on. He may have had some positive intentions.

Do you think he was after some position in a greater autonomy Panjab?

Do you know why?

Putting events together it would seem possible and likely that there was some sort of agreement between the two parties. I dont see why he'd do a 180 change on his stance in return for nothing.

The militants grew very suspicious of him, especially due to his release. And the govt I assume felt like he was useless as he couldnt control the militants.

So what happened with the ISYF regarding Bhai Jasvir Singh?

I was referring to the UK branch. Will try and find out for you.

Below is an old post I found and much of it correlates with what's on the Internet about Rode parvaar:

Jasbir Singh Rode (nephew of Sant Bhindrawale) along with his family - Joginder Singh Rode , Father of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale, Harcharan Singh Rode, Brother of Jarnail Singh Bhindrawale - have mislead the Sikh community during a very difficult time. They looted lakhs of rupees collected in the name of Saheed families abroad. All the money collected was used to buy land and businesses to enrich the entire family. Before the 1984, this family had no land or bank balance. Jasbir Singh Rode was in dubai during the 1984 attack and was suddenly brought to Pakistan and than ended up in Manila, Philipines and finally arrested by the Interpol and brought to New Delhi where he was kept in the Red Fort for year and half. During this time he agreed to derail the Khalistan movement and plotted with Indian intelligence to mislead the entire Sikh nation. Indian Govt. with a fanfare released him from Jail and brought in place to Amritsar in 1988.

Siddhartha Shankar Ray, the infamous Governor of Punjab came to recieve at the Amritsar Airport and Rode was escorted to the Golden Temple where he was allowed to take over the reign of Akal Takhat. This was immidiately after Prof. Darshan Singh had resigned over the differences with Panthak Committee, a committee comprising of the 5 militant organizations fighting for Khalistan ( but had been infiltrated by the Indian inteligence). Jasbir singh Rode was made the Akal Takhat Jathedar by this panthak Committee on January 26, 1986 while he was in jail and Ragi Darshan Singh was made the acting Jathedar. Tohra and Akalis were in jail and accepted these militant appointments.

But later Darshan Singh refused to toe the line of these militant organizations and finally resigned. This is when Jasbir Singh rode was conviniently released from the jail to 'curtail' the Khalistan Movement. Rode coined the term Pooran Azaadi instead of Khalistan for which he was dumped by militants finally in 1988. This led to operation Black Thunder when Rode was Jathedar and lot of genuine Sikh militants and majority of Indian Inteligence agents were in Golden Temple. Govt of India wanted to malign the Sikhs and the rebeliious movement and showed to the entire world how these militants surrendered and gave up arms to be arrested at the Golden Temple. Same night, Rode, along with his planners namely Arun Nehru, Cousin of Rajiv Gandhi, and Arun Singh had planned to dissolve the SGPC and appoint a board which would manage the Gurdwaras and Sikh affairs. SGPC officials found out this plot a night before and Manjit Singh Calcutta sacked the Rode same night and his

other four Jathedars who were mainly from Damdami Taksal but were conniving with Indian Govt. Calcutta along with tohra and Akalis appointed Harcharan Singh from Delhi as the Jathedar but within a week he resigned and they appointed Prof Darshan Singh as Jathedar of Akal Takhat again.

Than everybody know what happened - High Police official Chaman Lal came out and resigned over Govt of India's plan to install Rode again as the Sikh Leader. Police was instructed to let Rode go to Akal Takhat and claim his leadership while Darshan Singh was there which would have lead to open confrontation with Akalis. Chaman Lal came out public against his govt's plan to allow Rode to create a big havoc. Finally with Lal's admission, Govt's plan was derailed and Rode did quiet Ardas at the Akal Takaht and left peacefully. Since than this rogue has been trying to eztablish himself with all kinds of other jokers to lead the Sikhs. He has his brother Lakhbir Singh Rode in Pakistan and some supporters in Canada and England who still send him money. Jasbir Singh Rode and his family are responsible for killing of many people who spoke against the family's abuse of their influence and looting of this money meant for the Saheed parivars. Bibi Rajinder Kaur, editor of

Sant Sipahi, was the main target by them because she exposed the family and brought pictures and evidence of their bungling of lot of money and killing of people who were speaking against them. She was gunned down along with a granthi of Golden Temple, Sohan Singh. This is all documented. If someone needs proof, they can call Any of named individuals and read the newspapers of those times. This is all true. This is how these goons have made fool of the Sikh community and some remnant of these psuedo Khalistanis abroad are fooling the sikh youth and especially the Sikh youth born and brough up in western countries

back then of course Darshan Singh was pro Dasam Granth and did not have missionary inclinations!

Inderjit Singh, if you talk to people of Punjab who kept up with the events of those days, most dislike the Rode family. Completely disgraced Sant ji it seems. Their opinions match the content of your post. Baba Joginder jumped into the spotlight after Blue Star, due to Sant ji, people listened to him and Badal Talwandi and other Akali brass were too scared to speak against him for some time and let Baba Joginder head a new SAD.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
