I'm thinking of getting a dog too, but the thought of cleaning up their tutti out of the garden and off the pavement (when I might take it for a walk) majorly grosses me out.

you use a bag. In my case I don't even pick up their crap cause I live on a farm.

But seriously a dog is awesome. Get a Rottweiler! I had one and he was the most loyal dog I had.

DAY 3 - 04/01/2016

Ok so today has been a little harder for me, little things seem to be getting on my nerves and stressing me out. Im still not feeling well but decided to go into work which wasn't too bad - I told my friends at work that I had packed up drinking and everything else and they seemed to take it well. Its probably because they don't believe me but I don't mind, it just makes it easier for me. My cousin didn't give me a hard time about it as I thought he would but I'm not holding my breath

Oh I also went to the doctors this morning following chest pains I was having last year after I had been on a heavy binge. He has referred me to a cardiologist which just shows the damage it does to your body but I'm going to try my best to change all that

From when I got home, things have been a little harder. My family stress me out so much and I think I have used it as an excuse to drink and do drugs in the past. It feels like my personality clashes with all of them. I compare myself to other families and the relations a brother/sister/father/mother has and I don't have that with anyone in mine. Writing this blog is helping me a lot with situation, rather than keeping things bottled up, I am able to come on here and share my experience and take advice. Again, I have tried to keep myself busy since I have been home - got my smoothie made and pasta packed up for tomorrow, also ironed my shirt and trousers which I never ever used to do - little things like that are just keeping me busy and my mind at peace

I haven't had any phone calls today off anyone which is a good thing and I think people are starting to realising I'm no longer about like I used to be. I have also read your comments and appreciate the support. Once I start feeling better I will definitely get myself back into doing some exercise. I enjoy being outdoors a lot but its difficult with the weather we have here but will start going for walks/jogging soon

I hope these blogs are helping anyone else going through the same thing, feel free to pm me for mutual support. Oh and I decided to post this blog early today because I don't think ill be awake for much longer, going to have my dawai (medicine) and get some sleep! Goodnight all :)

You are doing good. See you are becoming independent and that's how it should be. Ironing your own shirts etc, is what you should normally be doing. Bet it feels good being independent, and stick to it so you don't drop back.

The visit to the doctors, I won't say anything on this. You already know what God is showing you and know what to do.

Don't expect it to be easy, or things change overnight, obviously you will having testing days, but it's in your hands. But be prepared for them days, so you know how to deal with them.

You sound like me and my family lol. I'm so different to all of them. I always used to say "manu patha main choti hundi gwach geyi c, tusi manu mele tho chak ke lianda

And I still use that dialogue lol.

The dog is a good idea, will keep you busy.

And you've had a good start at work and your cousins.

I'm not sure if you have a problem with drink? Sorry for mentioning this, but I have a fb page added and not sure whether it's for you as I don't know the extent of the situation. I didn't put it on so you wouldn't get offended. The guy that set up the organisation is a good guy and they have a show on one of the Sikh Channels. If you want the link shall I send in pm? If not for yourself somebody else may benefit from it, but I'm not sure if they deal with mild issues.

I like this blog idea. I may learn something from it for my anger problem.

Keep it up Paji.

Bhul chuk maf Karo je Kuch galt keha hove ji.

^^^Lol once you get a dog you will learn responsibilities. ???

An andrex puppy is a Labrador retriever. It's so cute! A golden retriever is also a good choice if you want something cute and loyal. Rottweilers are strong, cute and loyal.

What's he/she look like? Post a pic! lol

He looks a lot like a rottie but has some white. He is really fast and stubborn but loyal. I got him free from a person about 10 years ago. If I didn't take him they were gonna put him down. He is a wild child! I have another dog and she is a husky/German Shepard mix. She has golden Amber fur. She is one of the cutest dogs I have seen. She is really clever as well.

I might post a pic up on Sikh awareness. I haven't been on that forum for at least a month. Is paapiman and satkiran still fighting lol

We totally hijacked this thread lol.

To the OP:

If a geezer has training everyday as a hobby, after a while you start to really enjoy it and you'd be telling all your drinking, charlie snorting friends and relatives to eff off when they call you so they don't disturb your training commitment.

Point is: get a decent wholesome hobby that takes up a few hours in the evening and you won't have time for all the other ish.

PS - Don't let anyone turn your training into some steroid fest either!!

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
