all the muslim guys ensure they enrol their boys into fighting arts early , my daughter has a three year old pakistani lad in her jujitsu class , and other mums boast that their lads are doing boxing, muay thai ...if you learn to take the hits young , just like doing kirtan from a babe you don't flinch from doing it when older that's my observation.

Sikh kids tend to take up martial arts in their mid teens. It normally happens when they get picked on.

It also tends to happen independently from their parents compared to muslim kids who are encouraged by their parents from an early age.

I think muslim parents are more paranoid about the current events and are trying to prepare their children from what they think maybe an eventuality.

The earlier you can instill martial discipline and skill the better. In puratan times as soon a woman was pregnant they would ask the mother to read chandi di vaar and other marital texts and ballads during pregnancy as they believed this would instill a martial mind set into the child developing in the womb.

Children were introduced to weapons and training at a very young age. In the autobiography of nawab kapur Singh, he recalls a game where as a child they would make two teams and try to take the other team prisoner, they would use live blades ! Nawab kapur Singh was injured as a child in such a game where he was cut with a khanda, it was thought he would not recover. He later went on become a great leader.

This was the importance given to a martial life style.

You have to remember they have prophesies where Muslims are mass murdered towards the 'end of time'. I guarantee (given the political events of today), many think those days are upon them now.

Given that they will be preparing for the what they expect to come.

nah they are more aggressive and the deen and caliphate/triumph of the ummah is all ...same way they are cramming kids into backstreet madrassey despite lack of safety and monitoring of the adults teaching ...

When Sikhs were in touch with their itihaas they encouraged their kids to be warriors , when they fell into maya's charms then they discouraged their kids from Sikhi let alone warrior-like character.

That is correct to a degree, but I think there is more to it.

There is a lot of Ummah aggression but a lot of it is false bravado, just need to observe and watch their body language and read between the lines (just my opinion). They are a very scared people and they are even more worried than we are, but unlike our people who tend like showing our dirty laundry in public, Muslims like to sweep things under the carpet as much as possible.

I take my kids to martial arts classes and I observe that you find a lot more muslim kids in martial arts (much more than Sikh kids) but as the kids come into teenage years it begins to change.

Sikh kids get into Martial Arts via a lot of self-realisation. Dharmically, it makes more sense for our kids to take up martial arts because it is a form of moving meditation.

When it comes to representing India on an international stage, the answer to this is very easy.

The best athletes don't done the nations flag. Instead, relatives of powerful people and people of high hindu castes represent the country in international sporting events.

I visited my pind a couple of years ago and was absolutely stunned at the skill level of some of the young kids in the game of soccer (as some of you folks call it -- football). You're telling me a country of 1 billion people can't put together 20 elite soccer players? If India actually put the 20 best soccer players in the country with proper coaching, we'd be top 5 in the FIFA rankings with the likes of Germany, Spain, Brazil.

Many other countries have more corruption an poverty an yet do well in football

An why does this corruption only effect football an not cricket were india is very competative

Its a cultural problem

If football was popular as cricket then yeah india would do awesome but again its cultural issues were popularity if cricket makes ppl forget other sports

If muslims are putting there children into boxing mma an muay thai in heavy numbers what does that mean for sikh children who target sikh girls

Sikh gurdwaras need to partner with kash gill an other boxing muay thai an mma gyms an find ways to encourage sikhs to put there children into these gyms

They already do this, lions mma is one example.

Why kash gill ? Just because he's Indian ? Sikhs should try and learn from the best teachers available. This is why Maharajah Ranjit Singh hired European generals and had various ethnic races in his army . he didn't exclusively use Sikhs.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
