Punjabi, even in its most unpretentious and earthy form, is actually rather descriptive and metaphorical. My appreciation for it has definitely grown the more I've looked into it.

Could someone help me out- a very popular folk song has this line which I'm having trouble with. The lyrics-

Damri da sakk malke Munda moh leya taweeta waala

What does Damri da sakk malke in this line mean? Someone told me it had something to do with some sort of a tree bark acting as the equivalent of lipstick/some makeup for the woman to apply to herself to woo the man in the song. Another person told me that Damri is supposed to be a coin. Anyone here who knows?

full line is "das khaan tu aavegi khiya j meecha ni"

lyricist means "swear that you'll come in my dreams when i close my eyes (which refers to either sleeping or death)"
