Do You Think This Is An Act Of Humility Or Stupidity?

CASTELNUOVO DI PORTO, Italy (AP) Pope Francis washed and kissed the feet of Muslim, Christian and Hindu refugees Thursday and declared them all children of the same God, as he performed a gesture of welcome and brotherhood at a time of increased anti-Muslim sentiment following the Brussels attacks. Francis denounced the carnage as a "gesture of war" carried out by blood-thirsty people beholden to the weapons industry during an Easter Week Mass with asylum-seekers at a shelter in Castelnuovo di Porto, outside Rome. The Holy Thursday rite re-enacts the foot-washing ritual Jesus performed on his apostles before being crucified, and is meant as a gesture of service. Francis contrasted that gesture with the "gesture of destruction" carried out by the Brussels attackers, saying they wanted to destroy the brotherhood of humanity represented by the migrants. "We have different cultures and religions, but we are brothers and we want to live in peace," Francis said in his homily, delivered off-the-cuff in the windy courtyard of the center. Several of the migrants then wept as Francis knelt before them, poured holy water from a brass pitcher over their feet, wiped them clean and kissed them. Francis was greeted with a banner reading "Welcome" in a variety of languages as he walked down a makeshift aisle to celebrate the Mass. But only a fraction of the 892 asylum-seekers living at the shelter attended, and many of the seats were left empty. Those who came out, though, received a personal greeting: At the end of the Mass, Francis greeted each refugee, one by one, posing for selfies and accepting notes as he moved down the rows. Francis shocked many Catholics within weeks of his 2013 election by performing the ritual on women and Muslims at a juvenile detention center. After years of violating the rules outright, Francis in January changed the regulations to explicitly allow women and girls to participate. The Vatican said Thursday that four women and eight men took part. The women included an Italian Catholic who works at the center and three Eritrean Coptic Christian migrants. The men included four Catholics from Nigeria, three Muslims from Mali, Syria and Pakistan and a Hindu man from India. The Vatican's new norms said anyone from the "people of God" could be chosen to participate in the ceremony. While the phrase "people of God" refers to baptized Christians, the decree also said that pastors should instruct "both the chosen faithful and others so that they may participate in the rite consciously, actively and fruitfully," suggesting that the rite could be open to non-Catholics as well. The Vatican spokesman, the Rev. Federico Lombardi, said the Vatican norms are meant for traditional liturgies in Catholic communities, not necessarily a unique papal Mass where the overall message is one of universal brotherhood and the love of God for all his children. "Norms that are appropriate for a parish celebration aren't to be considered binding on a very unique celebration of the pope in a refugee center with a non-Christian majority." Francis clearly intended the message to be universal. "All of us, together: Muslims, Hindi, Catholics, Copts, Evangelicals. But brothers, children of the same God," he said. "We want to live in peace, integrated." http://news.yahoo.com/pope-wash-feet-muslim-orthodox-hindu-migrants-143353267.html

So the Christian religion finally learned about, "manas ki jat sabhe eke paihcanbo", "recognise all of mankind as a single caste of humanity". What's the issue again? (Do you not believe in equality of mankind, is that what you are trying to tell us?)

How is this stupid in any way?

That's what I want to know.

As long as anybody relates itself with his/her outer body, which is manmukhta, there are always going to be unending wars, unjustice and hatred, because their concept of that Wahiguru/God, is polluted with multiplicity.

If only we could understand what the Bani says:

Sabna Jeea ka Iko Daata.

There is only one Creator of all the beings, and these beings maybe earthly, or from other levels of consciousness or khands, like devis, devtas, angels, deities of the heights of Brahma, Vishnu or Mahesh, even Kaal, the maha mind.

So if He is one, is it not ridiculous to fight and quarrel over it?

The question thus is, if He is One, why do we fight or try to impose our views on others. Are there many gods?

The answer is as per Bani:

Ik Oankar, Satgur parsad jap. Aad Sach, Jugaad sach, hae bhee Sach, Nanak ho see bhee Sach.

Our Guru Sahibans, have described Him as eternal, unchangeable, and impeishable Truth, throughout all yugas

He can only be realized as the One Supreme Truth, with His Grace, when we do his Jaap/Simran.

And this Truth, can be heard and seen, but not with our physical eyes or perceived by any other senses, but first with our higher mind, and later on when this mind is disposed, our soul has full Darshan of Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

Third Patshahee, Sree Guru Amar Das Maharaj tells us in His Bani of Anand Sahib: Naam jiske man vaseeya, vajeh Shabad ganere.

This means, when we concentrate and focus with His Simran, and turn our attention within ourselves, we can hear the divine melody emanating from that Shabad Dhun or Shabad Guru, and at the same time, have Darshan of His akhoot Jot.

Outer forms and colors may be diverse and are all fanah, but if any wadbhagee jeev, goes within and sees and hears by himself this Shabad or Naam, there will be no such quarrels or unjustices, because all will hear the same one Shabad, se the same Jot.

Different words in diffrent languages or dialects may differ, but the tat, the essence, the reality, when realized and experienced within, is the same thus for all, irrespective of caste, creed, color or nationality.

Just as the Sun in the sky, no matter who looks at it, from any geographiclly locations, will always get the same intensity of light and heat. It would be absurd to say, there are muslim, hindu, christian or sikh suns ....

The problem is, without looking at the sun first, each and everyone is supposing and proclaiming its mental assumtions of that one sun, or better said hallucinatios, in the solar system, as the ultimate truth.

Most of our problems are because, we do not understand neither practice the Bani, which is no theory, but a practical science for God realization

Sat Sree Akal.

If anyone should be kissing others feet, it should be the so called refugees.

I think it has something to do with some Christian belief about Jesus kissing and washing his disciples feet. (Whom Christians belief as their God).

The Abrahamic religions Christians, Jews, Muslims only see their religion as the truth and others as inferior, some take it to the extreme.

Even though that's a true statement, it has nothing to do with this scenario, (why was the Pope kissing non-Christian feet?)

Tripurasura's Past life

Tripurasur was the son of Sage Gritsamad. One day the sage sneezed and from this was created a young boy who the Sage brought up as his own son. The sage taught the boy the Ganana Twam, Ganesh Mantra. Equipped with this mantra the boy meditated intensely on Lord Ganesh who ultimately blessed him. He was given three pura-s of gold silver and iron. Since he was the owner of these three pura-s he was given the name Tripur. Ganesh also bestowed on Tripur to be the most powerful, who none but Lord Shiva himself could destroy and after being destroyed by Lord Shiva he would attain mukti-salvation.
This boon made Tripur proud and he brought havoc in the entire world. He conquered the Nether world and then proceeded to takeover Heaven. He defeated Indra the king of heaven. His aggression made Lord Brahma hide in a lotus and Lord Vishnu in the Shirsagar. He soon also took over Lord Shiva’s Kailash Parvat and thus became the King of all the three worlds. The gods wondered on how to vanquish Tripurasur. Lord Narada told them that, since he had been granted a boon by Lord Ganesh himself it would be very difficult to vanquish him. He advised them to meditate on Lord Ganesh. Pleased Lord Ganesh decided to help the Gods.
Disguised as brahmin he visited Tripurasur and told him that he was a very enlightened Brahmin and could make for him three flying planes. Riding these he woud be able to go anywhere he wished within minutes. The planes could only be destroyed by Shiva. In return Lord Ganesh asked him to get him the statue of Chintamani which was at the Kailash Mountain. Lord Shiva refused to give the statue to Tripurasur’s messenger. The angry Tripurasur himself went to get the statue. A fierce battle started between him and Lord Shiva. He destroyed everything that belonged to the Lord Shiva who too retired to the Girikandar.
Lord Shiva too realized that he was unable to destroy Tripurasur because he had not paid his respects to Lord Ganesh. He recited the Shadaakshar Mantra to invoke Ganesh. On doing so from his mouth emerged Gajanan to grant Shiva a boon. Shiva continued his invocation of Ganesh who ultimately directed him on how Tripurasur could be killed. Lord Shiva was asked to recite the Sahastranam and then direct an arrow at the three pura-s of Tripurasur.
Lord Shiva followed these instructions and finally vanquished Tripurasur.
The place where Lord Shiva invoked Lord Ganesh he also created a temple for him. The town surrounding this temple was called Manipur. The village Ranjangaon is considered to be the place where Lord Shiva himself sought the blessings of Ganesh and ultimately destroyed Tripurasur.

You have the Devtas (dharma) & Daints (adharma - demons).Tripurasur is muhammeds previous life and as you can see from above he went on a jihad against people trying to follow dharma (righteousness). He was a very powerful warrior that the devtas feared for a very long time.

Now Tripurasur gets born again this time as muhammed. Does adharmic things

One example of his adharmic practice shown in video below - what we know as bacha bazi

Now to the question of original poster. Though we are all equal, god resides in us all. There is a war going on in kalijug between the dharmic vs adharmic. Can we all hold hands hands and sing the praises of god in a multicultural society.Nope. We have the adharmic (jihadits, islamism) trying to out number us all by having more babies. Marrying non-moslim woman and converting them, beheadings, suicide bombings.

After the Brussels bombings we have a pope welcoming immigrants, washing their feet. To me Is a show of weakness to the enemy. Appeasing them is not going to stop their brutal jihad. I have no problem with his kind gesture but we need a pope to not only condemn ISIS, boko haram, etc. But we need a pope like Pope Urban II (1095), who orders first Crusade On November 27, 1095, Pope Urban II makes perhaps the most influential speech of the Middle Ages, giving rise to the Crusades by calling all Christians in Europe to war against Muslims in order to reclaim the Holy Land, with a cry of “Deus vult!” or “God wills it!”

So we need a pope to condemn ISIS and get world leaders together to come up with a plan to defeat them. Save the Minority christians, Yazidis Alawites, kurds from genocide.

Especially Christians from genocide. I see the pope as weak

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
