the only way to stop this is to stop putting money in the golak and stop booking akhand paths at gurdwaras. learn to do akhand paths at home and save all the money your puting in the golak every month and use that to buy books and Gurmat related material for the sangat.

I have relations in Singapore. None of them drive a car because apparently it costs upwards of $100,000 just to put a car on the road in Singapore (and thats not including the actual cost of the car). I mention that because I think it highights the very very high cost of maintaining a beautifully clean and hygenic society. They do have a tremendous amount of regulations out there and, without knowing the facts, one can imagine the very high costs of maintaining a Gurdwara in compliance with regulations and society norms.

You obviously didn't read the message directly above yours Cisco. The cost of adhering to very strict regulations is very very high in Singapore. The car scenario I gave you was just an example of it, i.e the fact that one needs to spend around $100,000 on car tax etc before one can even put a car on the road there. Thats why there's so few private ownership cars there and the environment is so clean. Once you've spent $100,000 you can then factor in the additional cost of the actual car. That example then, is how Singapore maintains an extremely clean and orderly society. Standards are very high.....the costs of maintaining those standards are higher still, i.e alot of regulations, and thus we, sitting in other countries need to see both sides of the story with educated and well-read eyes before jumping to conclusions about committee members there trying to get an "s class mercedes". Not least because no self-respecting 'asian' person these days buys a mercedes. Mercedes lost their status symbol years ago. If a committee member these days was that way inclined, he would steal your money in order to buy a Range Rover.
