If we view women and men as equal, why is it only ever male Saints in the Panth and never female? Yes we have certain female Gursikhs that you can look up to, but why never a Saint? Can we only look up to women as our sisters, daughters and mothers? Is it not possible then for females to open their Dasam Duar?

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh,

Anyone who calls themselves a Sant is usually not a Sant. In many groups there are no Saints, but rather the Sangat is the Sant. NOBODY can open the 10th door without Guru Sahib. Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh.

We do have female sants lol. Mai Bhago, Mata Gujri and countless others are prime examples, Mostly in recent years its been a more common to see males in the limelight, but honestly the word "Sant" is so divine but we throw it around far too casually. True Sants are far more rare but we seen to add the divine status of sant to anyone nowadays.

If you want to know what a TRUE Sant is then please I encourage you to read Sukhmani Sahib. If I can remember off the top of my head Astpadhi 7,8,12 and 17 should help. 7 deals with the true nature of a Sant or Saadh, 8 deals with the truth of a Brahmgyani (a god conscious person), 12 deals with the fate of those who slander TRUE Sants and 17 deals with the divine status of Guru.

Why would anyone - male or female - WANT to be a sant in this day and age? It's a tarnished title that induces cynicism and disbelief in all but the most gullible and sycophantic. Usually, it's a method of attracting a following in order to generate attention and ways of generating income.

Be a sant if you want to. But as long as God knows about it, that's all that matters. If you want "santdom" for egotistical and material purposes, then you aren't a sant. You're an opportunist.

I don't know if there are any female Pakhandi Babas in the Punjabi community that could get any following.

Because of the sexism inherent in Punjabi culture, which has ba5tardized the proper practice of Sikhi by Sikhs for centuries. For most Punjabi parents, the idea of a son devoting his life to Gursikhi instead of making money and enhancing his family's prestige is bad enough. But for their daughters to do the same is unthinkable. Punjabism has always been opposed to the independence of women, and an unmarried woman of god, not tied down by her husband or a life of domestic servitude, is very independent - a repudiation of what it stands for. Hence they've never been allowed to become too numerous.

We use the Punjabism and the patriachial card way too much to explain why there aren't there many women doing this or women doing that.

The reality is that the majority of women prefer to be led rather than lead and the ones that do not like to openly lead, they prefer to do things covertly or via proxy through the male.
