The man's been wagging his finger at and rebuking public figures in that annoyingly haughty manner, for what's deemed to be questionable behaviour, as Chair of the Home Affairs Select Committee for years, lol. Wonder how the liberal quarter of the press will handle this; if anything, they'll paint him as some sort of tragically repressed yet brave figure who should not have been exposed for having gay encounters (as opposed to a dirty, cheating philanderer had he got caught with female prostitutes), won't he? I can't see them turning on him, lest they be accused of homophobic hypocrisy?

I think he's been stitched up, in terms of someone knew he got up to this kind of stuff, and they wanted to expose him. Which high-profile UK individual has been grilled by the HAS committee that would go this far? The fact that the Mirror went with the story (a left-leaning tabloid) is quite strange, too.

He wasn't stitched up, it wasn't a sting, he had visited the romanion male prostitutes before the paper exposure, the prostitutes recognised him even though he lied about his identity and approached the press.

The paper mad a decision that it's in the public interest that this should be known. Keith Vaz was chairman of the home affairs select committee, who amongst other things discuss drugs and prostitution. Clear conflict of interest.

Theresa May also said the public need to be able to have trust in mp's there reputations must be clean. This is clearly not the case with Vaz. A married man with children...

Keith Vaz helped kill a 90s probe into the Greville Janner claims: why is he silent now?

The MP was among those whose support for Lord Janner stifled an investigation into child-abuse allegations. Vaz should admit his error

Keith Vaz, prospective parliamentary candidate for Leicester East, is a keen user of Twitter. On any given day, the veteran MP, who has held the constituency for the Labour party since 1987, can tweet half a dozen times or more, spraying a mix of feeble self-promotion and blunt political rhetoric. Except at the moment. Last Sunday, he tweeted his thanks to the Bollywood star Abhishek Bachchan, who had visited the city to campaign alongside him. Since then, Vaz has been uncharacteristically silent.

It’s bizarre, because finally there’s something people want to hear him talk about. Last week in the Observer, I described how my 1991 investigations into allegations of child sex abuse by the former Leicester MP Greville, now Lord, Janner, were brought to a halt by supportive statements in the Commons from MPs. Key among them was that by Vaz, who said that his close colleague had been “the victim of a cowardly and wicked attack”.

When news first broke on 16 April that Janner would not stand trial on 22 counts of child abuse because of his dementia, I asked Vaz via Twitter whether he would care to comment about his support for Janner. He first reacted by blocking me. He unblocked me, but didn’t respond.

I assumed that he would speak after my article was published and widely circulated, but no. A week on, and the failure to respond properly to the issues I have raised continues.

The most generous analysis is that Vaz is making a blunt political calculation in the midst of an election: he just has to tough it out. The problem is that the longer he fails to address the issues fully, the more complicit he seems in a passive establishment effort to help Janner to avoid facing charges in court.

It’s not as if there isn’t a form of words he could use. He could reference the recognised cleverness of suspected abusers, and express regret if anything he once said added to the distress of Janner’s alleged victims. It seems he has decided against that. As a result, a matter that could have been consigned to history remains very much alive.

I said this many years ago why do Sikhs vote Labour, this party they do not represent Sikhs and actually harm us as a panth!

I also understand now why Keith Vaz and the Labour Party protected Janner!

I also understand know why Keith Vaz and Labour failed to speak up for the Sikhs who stopped one of our girls from being abused!

Yes, the connections between Janner and Vaz were being highlighted in a couple of other British news sources today. Maybe if someone in the Commons got off their backside, got the police involved, maybe Vaz would sing and spill some names if put under pressure?

Yup changed it always thought he was a british hindu because he was so pro-indian government. But apparently he is Indian roman catholic heritage that explains the obession with young rent boys especially with the catholic church being infamous for that kinda stuff.

    • There's been another "short circuit" of electricity being blamed for burnt saroops of SGGS Ji in rajastan. There's been many cases like these over the past few years all over india and most of them get passed off as short circuits of electricity for some reason. Something very dodgy is going on and i reckon the granthi's and gurdwara commitee's are involved somehow covering up something recent incident https://www.sikh24.com/2020/05/25/rajasthan-four-holy-saroops-of-sri-guru-granth-sahib-ji-burnt-due-to-short-circuit/ past incidents https://www.sikh24.com/2014/04/29/guru-granth-sahib-saroops-damaged-in-short-circuit-blaze/ http://singhstation.net/2014/07/sri-guru-granth-sahib-ji-saroop-agan-bhet-in-suspicious-incident-in-batala/ https://sikhsiyasat.net/2015/06/01/four-saroops-of-guru-granth-sahib-burnt-in-fire/ https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/city/amritsar/3-saroop-of-Guru-Granth-Sahib-destroyed-in-fire/articleshow/53580315.cms https://dailypost.in/news/punjab/fire-break-gurudwara-sahib-gurdaspur/ https://www.tribuneindia.com/news/archive/jalandhar/short-circuit-at-gurdwara-5-copies-of-guru-granth-sahib-burnt-640913 https://www.hindustantimes.com/punjab/short-circuit-at-gurdwara-3-copies-of-guru-granth-sahib-burnt/story-gGThbO645q3NK4h1tMO8xL.html https://www.sikh24.com/2019/09/23/sacrilege-in-rajasthan-holy-saroop-of-sri-guru-granth-sahib-ji-desecrated-near-sri-ganganagar/#.Xs8d7tJ686Y
    • Exactly, I dont want any coalition between Sikhs and any Muslim group. We need to stick up for ourselves and don't need the bad reputation of muslims hanging over us.
    • Yup india is pretty safe at the moment. It can crush the afghan taliban easily if they tried it on hence why they admitted they wont interfere in indian affairs. Modi's india is embolden at the moment and can even take on china and pakistan at the same time if it was a conventional war. If it came down to nukes then no ones gonna win in that only be loosers everywhere. So i think all the worldly powers have abandoned any support to separatists groups knowing theres not much chance of them seceding from a pretty stable and rising hindu nationalist india union. From Sikhs perspective we should keep out of any hinduisation thats going on effecting kashmir or indian muslims because the goal of islam is to convert and wipe non-muslims including sikhs out eventually. Whereas the goal of hindu nationalists isnt really one of wiping Sikhs and Sikhism or Buddhists and buddhism out they are pretty tolerant of dharmic faiths they just want to be top dogs in the native area they been living for past thousands of years.
    • Yes the only way is if an even bigger power helps the militant group but India is not the same nation it was back in the 80s. Nukes change things big time. No country will do this against India. Economically India is doing ok so it isn't going to collapse like the USSR.
    • You know if the present day buddhists were around in afghanistan before they lost it to islamic arab invaders i dont think the jihadis would have stood a chance. The buddhists of today are far more militant and extreme they have a crazy nationalist mindset same with Sinhalese buddhists of sri lanka when they fought with the sri lankan  hindu tamils both were as vicious as each other. This idea that we have of the peaceful buddhist is probably misplaced even their docile monks are quite militant. We just need to look at our own history during khalsa raj when the Sikh army researched ladkh and wanted to take tibet they faced quite strong opposition from the buddhist Tibetan troops. Both sides eventually called a truce and signed a treaty i believe respecting each others boundaries and borders. Which to this day that treaty is used by china to lay claim to various parts of tibet and india as inheritors of that land. ( sources: The Sino-Indian Border Disputes, by Alfred P.
