Too many problems

Recommended Posts

Have you ever walked into a place where people look different and act differently than you, and felt out of place?  You probably felt like they are judging you.  I have heard it many times from mona on how they feel awkward around a group of Gursikhs.  It has nothing to do with how the Gursikhs are behaving or the conversations but they feel out place because they look different.  Gursikhs build confidence from Gurbani and they project this confidence by their personality.  When you cut your hair, you are making a hair style that is a norm in society.  You dress as everyone else does and now you are not that "odd" person in the room, store, class, mall, sporting event, restaurant, etc. Just another average Jane. The confidence from cutting hair is an illusion you and the people around you have created.  How come these same people uncomfortable around Singhs who are not judging them.  Once they are out of their comfort zone (that accepted look in society is not the norm in a certain place) they feel shy and out of place.

The above problem is corrected by reading Gurbani daily and throughout the day.  Once you develop a strong inner you, the false confidence from cutting hair will be left behind. It would be not a question of whether to cut hair not but what does Guru want me to do.  And whatever the Guru wants you to do will be carried by you with confidence.

Naam Simran and bandgi, good deeds.

Guest gupt, read the writings on this website, www.satnaam.info

They give explanations of Gurbani, meditation, naam Simran, bandgi etc, a lot of your questions will be answered in it.

Please don't direct people to false bankrupt so called spiritual teachers.  They are lost and don't know the way, how can they direct others to the truth.

The website is Anti-Sikh, (though they are good at being deceptive by trying to put a represenation of the first Guru at the entrance).

But I feel like i am leaning towards the Christian religion is because they believe that every other religion is going to hell and I don't want to go to hell, and i like cutting my hair like i struggle to keep it

Is that the real reason?  Does Christianity say other religions will go to hell? ....I never knew that!

What does the hair really have to do with it?

I'm saying this because I never took steps to go forward telling myself to keep my hair. I just went searching within using the Sikh methods of simran and then bam!!! ....I suddenly had this urge to NOT cut my hair,  I felt a spiritual connection and didn't want to break it.

You look in the mirror and tell yourself that the hair has to remain cut and styled, but there is also another mirror inside you that you have to find to reflect on. This mirror is the truth and much more powerful that any mirror in the world.

I suggest that you try doing bandgee as suggested by harsharan and lionesswoman. The hair and all other matters will start coming towards you.

No one asked you to?

There was no reason to snap at Simran345. If you weren't aware of the sites background then you could have said or admitted.  Don't think that I'm poking or pointing at you but I know that sometimes we can find useful snips of information from other sources regardless of their agendas. Take what you find is of benefit and then ignore the rest.

It's ok paji LuckySingh99, I didn't get offended. Maybe Lionesswoman penji isn't aware of why I don't agree with the site or about the in depth reasons.

I didn't say anybody did, but what I don't understand is, why are you referring somebody to a site that have their own agenda?

Thats your opinion, I never said to follow the people on there, just to read the writings which are great. There's beautiful Katha on Gurbani there, explanations of samadhi, Simran stages, about applying the Gyan of Truth- that Truth is Nothing, it's beyond form etc. Accepting yourself as lowest of the low, as nothing but a slave to Truth. Teaching people absolute humility isn't anti Sikh.

A lot of the Gyan in Gurbani is spoken of on there that people skip over and don't accept and apply in their daily lives. How many people accept the Truth Beyond Form, hence beyond caste and creed, wealth and ego, the EK. The Truth Beyond Image, the Primal Nothing from where we all originate.

I doubt you you are perfect and hence able to judge, so before judging others, why not look in the mirror first, are you truly a good Sikh applying Gurbani to your life? Have you Truly surrendered at the feet of Guru Granth Sahib ji, applied the Gyan taught in it 100% to your life, no slandering, no lying, no greed, envy or jealousy, anger or ego.

Or are you a Fake Sikh, a Sikh in word but not in deed.

I never judged anybody, you do.

I never insulted anybody, you should actually read instead wat I wrote they have their own agenda, so? What did I say wrong?

I wrote one sentence and there was no judgement but truth from my opinion in it.  You have your opinions, so let me write mine and stop being all OTT.

A lot of gyan of Gurbani is told to us by Guruji, Maharaj ji, Sri Guru Granth Sahib ji, to whom I bow down to as my living Guru and know that have been 10 Gurus with the same Jot in them, from Guru Nanak Dev ji to Guru Gobind Singh ji and not to humans as my Guru. I may not write essays on spirituality or have the education to give mehne to those who question. Meri mat thori a, but I also have a right to say what I don't agree with and is my thought, my opinion and nobody can change that.

Dont worry about what kind of Sikh I am, because I'm not interested in what type you are.

Talking about judgement, I wrote one sentence and you go and write a whole page on judging me and mirrors and what not. So, maybe you should rephrase who judged who penji.

I still don't understand why you would refer somebody to their site. There's no need to get all heated up.

No, I cannot apply Guruji's words 100% to my life as I'm a human and not perfect. That's quite a silly question to ask penji, when only Guruji are the only ones that are perfect. I am imperfect, and as a human with many sins. So how can I be perfect, when I look up to the perfect Lord? I would never want to be perfect or think I am as perfect as them.

Guruji has graced me with one thing though, and that's being aware of Waheguru 🙏🏻

Lioness Pen Jee,

we are all imperfect.

Having said that, we can all  assure you, Simran Pen Jee is not at all as you may imagine.

She is a veteran poster here, and most kind sister to all, her posts are the proof. This is the goodnes of Sikh Sangat, 99.99% of the posters are genuinely good sikhs.

The thing is, most of us have our own thinking, which we should and must respect, except of course if it is rubbish. No need to get infuriated or heated, which only leads to set us apart.

We as sikhs, only have to see the sharda we have in Wahiguru, that is what really matters, other things are  just pointless...

Sat Sree Akal.

Hi so i am a teenage girl that feels nothing towards sikhs. However two years ago i did have a bit of a connection with sikhi and wanted to take amrit, but I didn't. And now i can't feel any prem, I feel like maybe its because I think Sikhi is restricting because i like cutting my hair, it makes a confident person and i enjoy it and i don't understand the point of keeping res no mater how many times someone has said to me. I want to feel that prem for maharaja but I am doubting everything. Like i am leaning towards Christianity and I don't like the fact that I am. But I feel like i am leaning towards the Christian religion is because they believe that every other religion is going to hell and I don't want to go to hell, and i like cutting my hair like i struggle to keep it. I understand not eating meat and I am fine with that as I have been a vegetarian for two years.I have so many problems, please give advice because I do want to have that prem for Sikhi. Sorry if I have said anything wrong.

Waheguru ji ka Khalsa Waheguru ji ki Fateh

Bhenji the worst hell for a sikh should be living without his Guru. Look at the below shabad to see the love of Guru Raamdas Ji Maharajh:

ਝਖੜੁ ਝਾਗੀ ਮੀਹੁ ਵਰਸੈ ਭੀ ਗੁਰੁ ਦੇਖਣ ਜਾਈ ੧੩

Even in violent storms and torrential rain, I go out to catch a glimpse of my Guru. ||13||

Even though the oceans and the salty seas are very vast, the GurSikh will cross over it to get to his Guru. ||14||

Just as the mortal dies without water, so does the Sikh die without the Guru. ||15||

Just as the earth looks beautiful when the rain falls, so does the Sikh blossom forth meeting the Guru. ||16||

I long to be the servant of Your servants; I call upon You reverently in prayer. ||17||

Nanak offers this prayer to the Lord, that he may meet the Guru, and find peace. ||18|

and:

I do not seek power, and I do not seek liberation. My mind is in love with Your Lotus Feet.

This is the pyaar we should want and do ardas daily for Guru Sahib! If we have this love in our mind then hell is a place away from Guru Ji's feet.

Once we starting reading bani and doing simran and grabe a hold of Guru's feet do you think he will ever let us fall into hell? Look at out puratan shaheed singhs like Bhai Taru Singh and Bhai Mani Singh - they gave their life for Guru Ji! Anyone who scares you about going to hell is trying to trick you into following their faith. If we go by the logic in your post above it would mean Sikhs like Baba Deep singh and Bhai Gurdas Ji are going to hell! Is this even possible?

Look deep inside of you and you will see Guru Sahib sitting there.

Sangat ji forgive this dog for anything wrong i've said.

Hi,

I wasn't angry at her , I was trying to explain the beauty of the Gyan explained on that site (from Guru Granth Sahib Ji) and how most of us are not perfect and hence before judging others, we should look at ourselves first.

She said that the site has its own agenda, which isn't true, it actually says that desire and agendas are blocks on the spiritual path.

Everyone's free to believe in what they choose, which is why I said to her that no one has asked her to go on the site when she stated that she wouldn't be looking at it.

I had a look at that website and read everything written there. Reading the website is not the problem. joining in with the group is a problem. When I gave the name of the site on here, somebody warned me about a girl who had joined the group whose website it is. They said they had brain washed her with many things which may not be correctly Sikhi. She would not listen to any reason. That is why people do not want to go to the website and they dont want others referring to the website either.

Therefore you may use it for your own reference and reading but refrain from encouraging others to refer to it. There is nothing obviously anti-sikh on the site itself. The website talks exclusively about Naam simran very positively. However avoid the trap which follows further on.

I've already said you don't need to follow the teachers on there, people have neglected to read that part of my post- people hear what they want to hear. I said read the explanations on there and the Gyan.

The explanations on there are awesome, I stick by that 100%.

That site aside, I am greatly worried by your attitude. I think you should reflect on this shabad from SGGS Ang 441

Man ṯūʼn maṯ māṇ karahi jė ha▫o kicẖẖ jāṇḏā gurmukẖ nimāṇā hohu.

O mind, don't be so proud of yourself, as if you know it all; the Gurmukh is humble and modest.

Anṯar agi▫ān ha▫o buḏẖ hai sacẖ sabaḏ mal kẖohu.

Within the intellect are ignorance and ego; through the True Word of the Shabad, this filth is washed off.

Hohu nimāṇā saṯgurū agai maṯ kicẖẖ āp lakẖāvhe.

So be humble, and surrender to the True Guru; do not attach your identity to your ego.

Āpṇai ahaʼnkār jagaṯ jali▫ā maṯ ṯūʼn āpṇā āp gavāvhe.

The world is consumed by ego and self-identity; see this, lest you lose your own self as well.

Saṯgur kai bẖāṇai karahi kār saṯgur kai bẖāṇai lāg rahu.

Make yourself follow the Sweet Will of the True Guru; remain attached to His Sweet Will.

I▫o kahai Nānak āp cẖẖad sukẖ pāvahi man nimāṇā ho▫e rahu. ||7||

Thus says Nanak: renounce your ego and self-conceit, and obtain peace; let your mind abide in humility. ||7||

    • The lady who fired the first shot into Bhai Sodhi ran to talk to Sant Ji and presented a fabricated story to the lead up to the murder of Bhai Sodhi.  The Singhs in the Jatha interrogated the women until she confessed the entire plan and was killed and her body was disposed of on the highway to send out a message.  Shinda the man who fired the remainder of the rounds into Bhai Sodhi, by now had escaped and was making his way to leave Amritsar via a vehicle.  A board was placed outside Mehta Chowk Gurdwara with message of ‘within 24 hours the murderers of Bhai Sodhi should be brought to justice’.   General Labh Singh along with fellow Jatha Singhs disguised themselves as Punjab Police Officers and set up road blocks on the main routes leading out of Amritsar.  Shindas car approached the road block and he sighed in relief on seeing Police Officers.  He asked for assistance with a safe passage to Delhi and he bragged about what he had just done to Bhai Sodhi.  He asked the Police Officers of which department they were from?  To which General Labh Singh replied ‘We belong to Secret Force which does not get paid and does not answer to any Worldly Officials’.  Shinda laughed and said ‘Stop joking around with me, there is no such Force that you have stated!’  General Labh Singh replied ‘There is such a Force and it is the Force that works for ‘Akaal Purkh!’  General Labh Singh picked up 3ft Kirpan and asked Shinda of how many bullets he had fired into Bhai Sodhi and began to cut Shinda limb by limb and threw his body parts into the road whilst he was still alive.  This all happened on busy public highway in full view of the public.  This was the fate of the cowards that murdered Bhai Surinder Singh Sodhi!

wjkk wjkf In addition to the advice in the above posts, just make sure that you complete your Nitnem,  even if you miss Amritvela. Don't think that you have missed Amritvela, so there is no point in reciting Gurbani then. This is another trick of Maya. But make sure that the morning Nitnem Gurbanis are completed before sunset. If you miss Amritvela, then go to Gurughar and do Nitnem. When you are in the presence of Sri Satguru jee and are reciting Gurbani with love/concentration, that time is also Amritvela. Listen to katha and do sangat for motivation. There is a lot of pain and suffering in the world. Think about that when you feel low. It might motivate you to do more Naam Simran. Please listen to the following videos. They might also motivate you. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y-GZBE0tAJ0 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAcSLU23TTU https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JKgz8_E4fGs https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fr_HEC7fV-A   Bhul chuk maaf
    • Yeah, and not acknowledging the dirt that white people have done to nonwhites is also very dubious too. Whitewashing.  That's a very cowardly and petty way of thinking too.  Most of the global political problems of today stem from decisions made by imperialists when they marched in far off places and attacked and robbed them blindly, usually enslaving the local population as some 'inferior race' to boot.  That they had time to do some archaeology whilst they were doing this doesn't mean we ignore that legacy and its enduring impact.

    • This is a really old post    but the man and woman who killed him were they punished and killed by other singhs?    Bhai surinder singh sodhi was a sher    a real gursikh as well  he did simran and nitnem for hours
