Sikh interracial marriages

Sikh men historically married Sikh women and Hindu women but never Muslim women. Hari Singh Nalwa refused to marry a muslim woman called begum bano who asked him for babies and he refused. I think there was a muslim woman from lahore who was disowned by her father because she saw Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji as her guru, she then started living at Amrtisar near Harmandir Sahib and i am pretty sure no Sikh man married her and she remained single.  We all know what happened to M. Ranjit Singh for marrying a sulli but nothing happened when he married his hindu rajput wives. 

 

Problem with Muslim women is that they never convert out of their faith for love. It is more likely that a Muslim woman will convert her husband to her faith or at the very least raise her children within the Islamic faith. That's how the mongols who expanded into the Islamic world nearly all converted to Islam within a generation or two. While it is a very good quality for any community to have such women in their ranks who are so loyal to their religion even if they marry out but to the guy that she marries it is spiritual suicide for this very reason. 

That's probably why Sikh men avoided marrying Muslim women. A Nakai Sardar who was the head of the Nakai Misal is said to have converted to Islam because his wife was a Muslim. His descendents are now very rich influential people in Pakistan.

Its the same with the religious Christian women, they try and convert you and if that doesn't work they raise the kids as Christians.

In many churches you need to convert into the sect of the church to marry your christian partner. 

My female christian friend who is a member of the black baptist church said that her church would never accept her marrying a non christian man, her church wouldn't allow the marriage. If she does marry a non christian man, her church wouldn't consider the marriage valid, so the kids would be considered "b@stards"    which is the term she uses for kids born out of wedlock!     she also said the congregation wouldn't accept her the same way

didnt Bhai Jagraj Singhs brother sunny hundal have to convert to catholicism to marry his bird? and he has to raise the kids as catholics.

religious christian women are basically the same...

had no idea about that!  imagine the maray karam he probably did to have his whole lineage become muslim!   waheguru !

Has there ever been an instance where Sikh man has told a muslim woman that she must embrace Sikhi if she wants to marry him and told her that their children must be Sikh also?

I'm sure there were.  But according to historical records of the time M.Ranjit singhs muslim wife moran became a very religious devout Muslim soon after she married him!  She opened Arabic and persian schools in lahore. She also got M.Ranjit singh to open a mosque for Muslim prostitutes in lahore . She then dedicated her days to preaching islam in lahore. 

There was one case where she managed to convert a young hindu guy from lahore into islam, this caused riots in the city and eventually M.Ranjit singh had to get involved. Not sure what happened with the boy though.

After this incident she led a more private life out of public eye.

Not much is know about her after this. 

She was his favourite wife. 

 

Theres the case of "shaheed" boota singh. Who retured to his pind after the war and soon after the riots of 47 started and he saved a muslim girl and married her, she converted to sikhi. But after the riots all the girls left on the wrong side of the border had to return and his wife was forced to move to pakistan despite having a kid with him. He then moved to pakistan and converted to islam in the hope he would get her back but by that time she is married of to another man. He then committed suicide and his islamic grave is in pakistan now. His kid/daughter remained a muslim.   The movie gadar was based on this.

One of my distant relative married a Pakistani muslim girl. He's keshdhari and goes to gurudwara daily. They both are dentists and met each other in a dental college in Canada. They have 2 sons, both being raised as Sikhs(keshdhari).

 

I personally never heard of a sikh man converting, most sikh men(including me) that I know will rather choose death than converting or bringing any shame to dastaar. However, vice versa is not true. I have seen countless sikh girls marrying non sikhs(mostly hindu) and not even one of them raised her kids as sardars. Even worse, most sikh girls started following hindu rituals, karwachauth, wear a giant useless mangalsutra etc.Thats some strange dynamics!
