A lot of it is common sense and the author uses real life examples for each rule.

He shows the coonotations of each rule.

Examples of the rules are:

Never outshine the master. 

Strike the shepherd and the sheep shall scatter. 

Conceal your intentions. 

Get others to do the work but get the credit. 

The book is not necessarily for to make you conniving but it gives you an idea how conniving people operate and the signs to watch out for.

it is interesting how a man who never married can be so sure about the bad character of women , the same females he goes to claim donations for pooja , marries to other men  and perhaps secretly covets .
