I was reading Anita Anand's book on Sofia (M. Ranjit SIngh's grand-daughter). I think her mother was mixed Ethiopian-German(?) but that still didn't extinguish the fight in her. My friend told me that brits would purposefully try and mix races to make the offspring docile. It didn't always work by the looks of Sophia. 

I think the notion of 'pure bloodlines' isn't a healthy one myself.
