There is some unfortunate misinformation being put out there regarding the Woolwich (United) Gurdwara on Calderwood Street.

Calderwood Street Gurdwara was created by Sangat from various different backgrounds (Jatt, Chamar, Saini, Tarkhan, Julaha, Khatri, Arora, Brahmin, Rajput etc) in response to Ramgarhia Woolwich not allowing those from a non-carpenter background to become a member of Ramgarhia Woolwich Gurdwara. All Amritdhari Singh's from a Tarkhan background left Ramgarhia Woolwich to become members of the new united Gurdwara when it was formed on Calderwood Street.

It is factually incorrect to falsely claim that Calderwood Street Gurdwara must be a so-called Jatt one just because the Ramgarhia Gurdwara discriminated against people.

How would JKV explain the fact that the trustees of the united Woolwich Gurdwara are Mr Saini, Mr Dhillon, Mr Malik according to her false claim of the Gurdwara being a supposedly so-called Jatt one.

Benti that incorrect info by JKV above should be edited.

OK My family and my cousin's family , Mum's cousins parivars used to go , this was when I was a little one , I even did langar sewa on the inaugaral day at Calderwood ...And the thing about jatts was my folks' observations and my noticing the main families that switched ... sorry if it is not full disclosure but I was hardly of an age to become a member myself and I was not there for politics . We are from a Jatt background as were a major group of the sangat that switched , yes there were some tarkans as far as my Mum mentioned once or twice . But I have love for both Gurdwarey as they are part of my childhood.

Thank you JKVLondon Ji for accepting that Woolwich Sikh Temple (Calderwood Street) are a united Sangat comprised of an open membership of all backgrounds.

Mr Kalsi, trustee of Calderwood Street, was one of the chief Singhs who exposed the Ramgarhia Gurdwara's constitution barring non-carpenter Sikhs from becoming members there.

As a consequence the united Sangat Gurdwara on Calderwood Street has 1,000 members of all backgrounds and has pictures of Baba Deep Singh and great Shaheeds in our itihaas. Whereas in 1984 the Ramgarhia Gurdwara had a picture of Giani Zail Singh in the entrance lobby.

All Amritdhari Kenyan families are with Calderwood Street Gurdwara and there is no meat sharaab in the langar hall.

It would be good if wider Sangat can show support to the united Sangat Woolwich Gurdwara on Calderwood Street by attending. The larger the Sangat on any given day the less chance of Beadbi.

I think every Guradwara should invest in a Sikh security personnel. Normal people are not well equipped to deal with these types of attackers. Else normal youth should be given the duty to keep watch on any suspicious characters entering. In this case, if someone had been watching they would have noticed the person has not removed his shoes.

Dear Sangat Ji,

A Muslim attacker proclaiming Muhammad Rasool Allah has today attacked Sangat and angs of Maharaj at a Gurdwara in London UK.

The Muslim attacker tore angs of Guru Sahib and attacked Sangat.

Fortunately the Muslim attacker was caught by brave Singhs and handed over to Police who arrested him.

Whole incident was caught on Camera and the Muslim attacker wore shoes and burned torn angs of Maharaj with the lighted cigarette he came in smoking with.

Message to Sangat please increase security at your local Gurdwara!

Wait how do you know he is a muslim? Wheres your evidence and source?

"Muhammad Rasool Allah" sounds like a made up name.

his name wasn't that it's what he said when he went for Guru ji

Ok but wheres the evidence that it was a muslim who did this?

End of the day whether it be a muslim or mentally unstable apna or any non-sikh. We need to ask why is there no security for Guru Ji. Is everyone eating chai and samosay and jalebi in gurdwara these days while Guru's saroop is left alone to be attacked by nutjobs.

The first people who need to be sorted out is the commitee members and those charged with Guru Ji's and sangats security and safety. second person is the actual attacker. No gurdwara commitee anywhere in the world should be allowed to keep a copy of Guru Jis saroop if they cant protect him with exercise of arms. Guru Ji gave his singhs kirpan not for show like khusray but to use for deadly effect against aggressors.

I commented on about this issue only few days ago and look what happened, it was bound to happen with stupid jatha sectarian sikhs too busy fighting each other in gurdwara and others eating samosay getting fat and useless rather than protecting the kaum and dharam.

Theres alot worse to come I'm sure because the state of Sikhs in gurdwara's around the world is shocking they too busy being ego filled fellow sikh hating thugs or lily liberal leftist cucks letting non-sikhs and mentally unstable homeless and attackers roam in to attack.

Guru Ji is giving saroop shaheedi time after time trying to wake up his people but will his people rise up to the challenges of the modern new sociology-political-economic realities.

bro it happened whilst ladies sangat i.e. buddhian  were reciting sukhmani sahib , their dhian was in the paat .. he lit up a <banned word filter activated> and then headed towards Guru Ji , the guys managed to stop him getting hold of Guru ji's saroop , he only managed to pull a rumala which caught on ang and ripped it . In the eyewitness account he did not set anything on fire ...apart from his cigarette.. CCtv was installed because like I said before Woolwich has a history of racist attacks on sikh gurdwarey and on sikhs in the streets, how ever like the youths are saying the youth need to.show up and take on these elements of sewa . You cannot use deadly force in the UK but you can use reasonable force and citizen's arrest.

Thats no good then. Why did facebook groups and sikh news websites say it was a mentally ill punjabi apna? And since the incident theres been no official news updates.

Hopefully we can find out who actually was behind this soon and serious consequences should follow to end this victimization and humiliation on the Sikhs.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
