UK Brexit and SWOT analysis for British Sikhs

Now that article 50 has been invoked and the UK is set to leave the EU club.

What are the ramification for British Sikhs and Sikhs in the EU?

What are the strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats once the UK regains its sovereign parliamentary powers.

I do not think it will make a great deal difference to the UK Sikh.

However, it could mean that Sikhs that become pakkeh in EU will not be able to freely move to UK like before.

Judging by Theresa may's recent comments about not stopping the overflow of EU immigrants in the UK after brexit it seems it might not be true.

EU human rights court was important in cases of Sikh separatists who were persecuted by indian govt being allowed to stay in the UK and other countries in europe. Without these strong human rights laws the EU provided then all cases will be left to the political relationship of India and UK.

So British Sikhs need to start getting very politically active. No longer will they be able to take human rights legislation for granted.

That is a possibility. However,  I am sure that many of those laws will be carried over if they are not in UK law already.

There is bound to be new trade deals with countries and with negotiations there is going to be concessions made on both parties.

But I am no expert in no law.

British Sikhs should be politically active regardless of whether UK is in EU or not.

Unfortunately if we want freedom of movement around Europe to work (which the British do) they are going to have to allow it for EU citizen's as well, the whole "immigration" hard sell to get people to vote to leave the EU was a complete fallacy(pretty much the same goes for that whole £350 million going back into the nhs and a load of other things), in the long run i highly doubt freedom of movement for EU citizens will be restricted, maybe a little more monitored though.

Overall i don't think Brexit will directly affect the Sikh community, it's more how it will affect British citizens but one thing's slowly becoming clear, that's how racist people are, there has been an increase in incidents of racial abuse and racially aggravated assaults since Brexit.

As far as the EU Human Rights act/law, there was talk a while ago of repealing it if we left the EU, it would be replaced with the British Bill of Rights but the Government backtracked on this because it would be too much of a constitutional change so as far as i've read the Human Rights Act that we have as the moment is due to stay until after the General Election in 2020 – but even then there is no guarantee it will be replaced.
