Is it ok to listen to Nitnem?

Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh! I wanted to know if it's ever ok to just listen to Nitnem without physically doing it due to some reason? Vaheguru Ji Ka Khalsa Vaheguru Ji Ki Fateh!

Yes, usually in addition to having read it first.

Better to read unless physically and mentally incapacitated due to illness.

You could, but reading Nitnem yourself has many benefits.  Listening may "free you up" to do other things, which means you may end up focusing less on the Nitnem itself.  There is always the risk of sleep if you are listening, tired and still.

Reading aloud bestows the additional benefit of assisting in memorizing Nitnem as well.

To learn better pronunciation:  Sure, but the ideal state would be to go back to doing Nitnem youself after this learning is complete.  Perhaps assign a time duration within which you would learn the pronunciation and then go back to doing the Nitnem yourself.

Nothing wrong with listening jeeo; however make sure your surthee is focused on the nitnem and not something else Bhai sahib. If it becomes background noise then maybe you should re-evaluate the reasons why you're doing nitnem ??

I think you need to do a bit of both reading,  listening and also memorise it and try to do it from memory - if you can.

Nitnem, whether one recites it or listens to it, what is important, is to not recite it as a parrot, but in paying attention in understanding the spiritual wealth contained in it, and then fly as an eagle to touch the skies.... As that is the purpose of the Bani, in getting liberation from all our worldly bondages, and get our chit engaged in devotion at His charan kamal.

Other thing is of Naam japna, which each and everyone has to do it individually, as it is our personal link with Him, through which we get closer and closer to Him, to the extent we come so much near to Him, that we become one with Him.
