Proper way to change kashera

Recommended Posts

I was reading somewhere that when changing the kashera the shoulders should also be covered?

Can someone provide a step by step on this? I know the ponchaa is changed one by one, but the covering of the shoulders is new to me...can someone explain who has knowledge on the topic?

Friend, someone must surely be trolling you.

Have you never been to Harimander Sahib? Or any other Gurdwara with a pool?

Sikh men are out there in the open with only their 5 kakkars on and nothing else (except a towel around their waist--not their shoulders).

Just observe (discreetly) by sitting in the roofed parikarma how people change their kacheras.

Just to get you started so you don't flash anybody:

1. bathe (with your kacheara on, of course).

2, loosen your kachera to clean your privates.

3. wrap a towel around your waist and fasten securely

4. let your wet kachera fall to the ground

5. remove one foot from wet kachera.

6. insert that foot in the clean kachera

7. do same for other foot.

8. bring up your clean kachera to waist level and tighten as necessary (not fully)

9. remove towel while keeping kachera in place

10. fully tighten and tie up your kachera knot

Done.

My point exactly I have seen many singhs with there shoulders covered with a towel as well when changing the kaschera and that too at sarovers which is why I am asking. I think I may have read this from a post of gyani thakur sing from patiala but cannot find it...

It's pretty funny (and sad)... But since I have become a Sikh, so many new stories have been totally made up by people.  it seems that every year there are new stories that somehow emerge. I think our preachers need to really think about this and understand that this is doing more damage than good. Our history and maryada is becoming so diluted that it is going to be very hard in the future to separate false stories from real ones.
