Yea lol I've had some weird and wonderful pronunciations of my name before especially from supply teachers! lmao...

Simran is a nice name but its really common. My baba made sure that me and my siblings got quite unique names: Prabhmeet is my brothers name..

Names are meant to be unique in my opinion. A rather unique name I have heard in a while is "Gurbhagat".

That's why some people say not to shorten names to nicknames. The name will lose it's value.

YES!!!!! That happens all the time. Once a dopey supply teacher called me Toronto. You should've seen my face. She looked at me and then she re-read my name and then said it properly. It wasn't even funny so don't even dare to smile...

Jk it was pretty funny afterwards though. I have a friend called Harpal and all the teachers call her Harpul and she gets annoyed too.

Ohhh... I don't think it will EVER come you miss!!! Is what goes through my head every time.  

To be honest my name is actually written with a ਤ yet everyone pronounces it like a ਟ or something.

Actually its meant to be pronounced like how it is in the title of this thread.

Thurren sounds better. There is no 1 way to write it in English so you can improvise so it sounds more like punjabi.

I like your name.. Very similar to mine and very different. Yea its because Gurmukhi has a phonetic alphabet so there are different sounds rather than just one sound for each letter. My names Taranjot do you like my name?
