Conversion to Sikhi ?!

Yes, it didn't make sense (ie. deity worship). To be specific there was really no connection to a God with so many avatars. 

We went to the Gurudwara for many reasons - 1) Punjabi was spoken, I couldn't speak Hindi. The only other option was we spoke Hindi at home instead of Punjabi 2) Much closer.

Actually no, Ahmadiyya Islam also happens to be indigenous to Punjab.

In addition to that, from my knowledge it's the only religion that's indigenous to Punjab.

I would not name this stepping into sihkee as "conversion", as it sounds something "missionary".

Anyhow if any conversion takes place by practicing sikhee, for sure there is one, and that is a drastic change in one´s life, that is in changing oneself from a slave of the 5 chors and mind,  becoming into a pure selfless devotee of Wahiguru Akal Purukh.

That´s it.

Nothing more, nothing less.

And this "change" is most welcome.

And for that we have to be most grateful to Him, at each step of our lives,from the very bottom of our being.

Instead of converting, please grow into sikhi.

Learn gurmukhi and do simran. Also it will be easy to memorise mool mantar and even some pauris of Japji.

This will grow you as a sikh instead of converting to just a label.

I too found the term inappropriate, was considering using the term adopting initially..

I wasn't born in India (we only go there once every three years to meet relatives) so I can't really read the Gurmukhi script or any proper punjabi script....... 

My parents took me to a gurudwara regularly as the closest temple was too far, and my hindi was weak so I didn't want to go there anyway.

I'm aged 16 - 20 if that matters.
