“If jarnail singh wasn’t in Akaal takhat, then it would not have been destroyed”

  • Lt. Gen. SK Sinha disclosed that a replica of the Golden Temple complex was built 18 months before the operation, for army preparations and rehearsels. This was before Bhindranwale shifted to the Akal Takth.
  • If the operation had been planned meticulously and well in time, why was the attack launched on a holy day for the Sikhs?
  • Sant Jarnail Singh Bhindranwale was present in the Akal Takth only, why were 38 other Gurdwaras across Punjab attacked by the army as well resulting in the loss of hundreds of Sikh lives?

The attack on Harmandir Sahib and the complex in general was in part a symbolic act designed to demoralise and cower us into inaction. Basically, the idea was to damage the one place that is most identifiable with Sikhs, in the hope that it would be a constant reminder of how they managed to violate the sanctity of the hub of our faith.

given that Indira had planned since 1980 to attack Harmandir Sahib , built full scale replica in Doon valley in 1981 , asked three times and got refused three times by her General to attack the Gurdwara . I think your folks are totally deluded  ask them if that is true why did her father attack in 1952  and her son in 1986 and again 1988 . that family just wanted to drive home that sikhs are ghulam nothing less and if they could they would have finished us off .

Indira gandhi was a power-hungry woman, no doubt.

Akali Sikhs were the most rebellious to central govt of India in 1977 emergency. And she put a LOT of people behind bars. And I think she just had grudge against Akalis, perhaps not Sikhs in particular. I think we tend to exaggerate the anti-sikh attitude of the then prevailing govts.

It is possible that she attacked akal takht as a vengeance against akalis in their role in 1977 , but I think to assert that she wanted total annihilation of sikhs like aurangzeb did , is a bit far too stretched. She wouldn't have appointed Zail Singh as president then , also would have provided nothing to sikhs.

To sum it up, I think she was a power-hungry totalitarian politician who wanted to clear anyone off her way. She hated sikhs for this I think, not because of some brahmanical agenda as is always said .

I could be wrong though

We need to understand chanakya neeti "Saam , Daam , Dand , Bhed" of our enemies.

Saam : Praising , to win confidence of enemy

Daam : Monetary luring

Dand : Punish the enemy

Bhed : Divide the enemy

How it happened with sikhs (just my gut feeling)

Saam > Praising sikhs as protectors of hindus , movies like "singh is king" , etc etc , when infact doing little to help drug ridden punjab.

Daam > Does the 350th prakash celebration of Guru Gobind Singh ji fall into this as the central GoI sponsored it by 100 crore rupees.

Dand > Op Bluestar , Delhi riots , and so on

Bhed > Taking ravidasias away from sikhi (although we too're responsible for not making sikh community a truly casteless society), Dasam granth controversies, missioniary sikhs, etc etc

Great Analysis!?

Although I never understood why Indira gandhi didn't remove sardars from her security cover, despite some warnings to do the same ?

Wasn't she even least bothered that her sikh bodyguards may end up shooting her because of what she did in op.bluestar

Today , a sikh or muslim security personnel is not allowed in inner circles of PM of india, although this is not written on paper(because it would be evidence of discrimination) but its an unwritten rule I read of in a news article

her hubris and arrrogance made her feel invincible plus if she was killed she had already planned the next stage ...remember she was groomed by her dad for power ..and with that about how his family was done wrong by sikhs

Agreed. Indira Gandhi isn’t exactly the stereotypical Brahmanical figure. She did after all marry a Parsi, and her son went onto marry an Italian. These aren’t the actions of a Brahman. And her grandson, Rahul, isn’t exactly a poster boy for Hindu nationalism. Indira Gandhi was slighted by a handful of Sikhs, and she took this personally and to break our pride launched this attack. Both sides suffered, but the price our community had to pay was far too great. And no point in blaming other communities, when our own are our worst enemies. When you have people like K.S. Brar heading attacks on their own sacred shrine, that’s when one can see that our community is spineless. When you have people like KPS Gill executing the youth of his own people, that’s when you know we’re divided. When you have our own police torturing, raping, killing our people that’s when you know that our community has no future. If we had been united back in 1984, I’m sure the outcome would have been different. But forget 1984, we’re not even united today, I’m sure what’s going on in the news is testament to that.

If there’s any Brahmanical agenda we need to worry about then the closest thing to that is the BJP. Look at what they’re up to now:

Just a digression but Dayal Singh, I believe, was an Arya-Samaji.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
