Problem with my Guru Ghar's Committee right now

But in all seriousness you guys have people who know more about  Sikhi than proper keshdhari Sikhs, rather than chastising them for being moni (which could be down to ALOT of reasons out of their control) maybe learn from them and let them do something inspiring Sikhi related. Like if Moni cant do Katha now should we stop them doing Kirtan in Gurudwaras, lets stop them doing sewa of any kind too. 

Where do we draw the line? 

its all fine and dandy looking up to Sikhs with Kesh but atleast some of the moni aren't systemtically dismantling Sikh theology like say Ranjit Singh Ji.

Until we actually get the numbers to do things like they did in the good ol days, we need to make adjustments.

What I'm about to say in not in hankaar, just fact. I was one of those mone, granted I didn't have the skills or knowledge to do katha but I had a deep desire for Sikhi and I knew a decent amount for a beginner. Being pushed away didn't necessarily harm me, it harmed the Panth though (no I'm not saying I'm some Panth Rattan). Some people will never truly know what one experiences being a mona who's interested in Sikhi. There's a saying which is used by people who have addictions and are in recovery: "Talking with people who don't have first hand knowlegde of addiction is much akin to showing a dog a card trick...", the logic behind the quote can sometimes be compared to the experience of mone. You are judged on appearance alone and peoples preconceived notions that by being a mona you're showing disloyalty to the panth. Which is ridiculous. There are plenty of mone who have love for Sikhi, who are we judge them and guilt trip them. With Maharaaj Kirpa they'll keep their kes when the time is right.

I can't say where we should draw the line but there needs to be some reform, that's for sure.

Simply have kes doesn't mean jack in Kalyug. I really think kes is pointless if there isn't any prem for Sikhi because in most instances one only decides to keep their kes after something heartfelt, not guilt or expectations.

Parents keeping the kes of kids is a different story, that should be encouraged.

We should take a leaf out of history, has a precedent been set to allow monay to lead services or be parcharaks on stages? We know the answer, so why change.  No one is stopping them from doing general seva duties.

It is Guru ji who told us to keep kesh. Not a gurdwara committee.

If the gurdwara doesn’t let you do katha on stage...try making videos of katha and put them online. You will reach a wider audience this way.

Don't be disheartened veere, this world and the people are blinded by outward appearances and don't spend enough time meditating to see each other as jots; equal , one. 

You keep focusing on bani and when Guru ji wants, then they will aap put you to their seva. Meanwhile keep khojing bani everyday and try to create small focus groups with people around you so can have gurmat vichaar on weekly basis. Doing katha at a Gurdwara will always have restrictions.

To the OP don't be disheartened by the commitee'walas narrow view, instead maybe look at different avenues to encourage your passion to have a discourse about Sikh with others.  Set up a YouTube channel and make some flyers and share these with the sangat in your local GurGhar - your calling could be far greater than the limits of 4 walls in a small town or city. 

Look for the lessons in things and you will never be disappointed. Everything is hukum.
