for those who dnt know Doaba is called Doaba because its the land  between 2 rivers   do=2  aab=river         Doaba comes between the Beas River and Sutlej river.  Parts of Himach pardesh like Una are also part of Doaba, the areas of Doaba bordering Himachal have loads of massive rocky hills. once your drive past Gahrshankar the hills/mountains start.    being from Nawanshar  you just cross the sutlej and your in Malwa,  una is around an 1hr 15 mins drive from us   iv been Una loads of times  really nice mountainous area   massive mountains   really steep   roads are on the edges of the mountains and there are no railings lol!

I've come across a feint Doabiyeh Vs Malwai mentality, although I have to say it's quite one-sided as it seems to come almost exclusively from the Doaba camp, lmao.

Can you elaborate?

like I have said earlier , my parents kind of look down at Doabias.

i am not from their generation but my general view is that Doabias men are more ‘macho’ (a good thing) than Malwai and Doabia seem to be more into family (relatives)

Outside of India Doabias much outnumber Malwai so its natural you would hear more from Doabia side

In my experience, it's nothing sinister, just a little bit of good-natured ribbing. Although, I've never heard of or experienced males mention the Doaba v Malwa issue; it's mostly women teasing each other about their temperaments and habits. I honestly can't say whether my experiences are reflected across the board. It might be different with other people, I can't comment on that front.

Malwai women are apparently rather feisty and outspoken, whereas Doabans, supposedly, are a little more guarded yet no less lethal, lol. Just what I've seen and heard.

Preeto in Jalandhar is just as feisty as Jeeto in Moga.

Doabans seem to think Malwens are loudmouths and quite coarse, haha. I don't know why we love to subdivide ourselves into continually smaller niche groups. Some don't take it seriously, but others are deadly serious.

If by 'macho' you mean loud and brash, okay. But if you mean actually being seriously up for dangerous situations and brave like that, there are guys I've known who've grown up here and are infinitely more capable and ready to do serious shyte than most people from back home. You know what the culture is like with shasters in urban parts of the UK.

Like I said previously, it might be a regional cultural thing: that's  why your parents family wouldn't behave like that. Factor in that some people would consider certain traits as boorish, cringeworthy and oafish (rightly or wrongly). The higher the rate of education the more likely they would think like that I would imagine? That's not to excuse effete behaviour by males in our quom. But I feel that it is easy to mistake being loud and brash as somehow being more masculine. This ridiculous notion played a big part in the proliferation of grooming. Certain idiots in the panth were behaving just you describe for years with other apnay, but didn't have the brains or balls to comprehend, let alone try and deal with the issue. It's only when shyte gets deep that you see whose what. Those people who were doing this too us, did it quietly, and let the idiots do their brash big man macho act, and quietly laughed to themselves.

That's another reason why I don't think such behaviour is particularly attractive.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
