I wear boxers underneath because I just find it more comfortable. And wear compression boxers under during sports/gym.

Main thing is trying to understand the meaning of kachera (self-control etc) and implement those values in our life

Kachera aint just about a Kakaar - look into it - use your brain. It's loose and baggy, it's made of breathable cotton. All these attributes are about comfort, hygiene, prevention of injuries. Singhs were in the battlefield for up to 10 hours + wearing Kacherae and you cant handle a few hours in a controlled self inflicted gym environment.... soft.

if he's doing some sort of MMA or grappling training I could understand the preventative element , also I'm sure running for long distances would become uncomfortable .

I wear form-fitting cotton boxers boxers underneath - because that’s what I’ve found is most comfortable for me. Then very thin cotton kachera as part of our 5k’s like attached image. (I dont wear a baggy nihung kachera)

Agreed!

Please make an account and post regularly on this forum, bro.

If there's one thing that our kaum desperately needs, it's a shot of masculinity.

Lets stick to the Maryada. Wear ONLY Kachera - no boxers nothing else.

You can buy Kachera in good quality cotton that isnt see through - even when wet i.e. during Ishnaan (e.g. Having Ishnaan in Sarovar) when having a shower.

Having said that if you wear the CORRECT type of Kachera - in other words:

- The Kachera A'asan and Ghera should be lengthly when sewn so when the naala (strings to tie Kachera) is woven through you will accumulate grooves of the Kachera kapra. These grooves - over lapping of material is what helps cover your modesty.

- Kachera should be long enough to the start of your knee caps - again this covers modesty and so there are no "peak holes."

Please don't break the maryada, Guru Gobind Singh Ji knows what He's chatting about, if he wanted us to wear boxers He would've said.

Obviously, women are required to put some form of under garments on during their monthly period to keep the Kachera from soiling. Which is understandable. But Singhs - you don't need to do anything unneccessary. Grow some balls and man the fu6k up and stick to Gurus Maryada. His Maryada is the real deal - live to it like a fu6kin Singh.

Sorry for the language but it really peeves me off when I am beginning to see a daily trend with our Singhs turning into fairies. You are a role model to our coming generation - man the fu6k up. We dont want a bunch of cry babies.  Live it up.

Man up! Masculinity! What is wrong with u... Tell this to MAI BHAGO.

Masculinity is not about power, get that out of your mind, you are similar to people who support patriarchy, Gurus kept fighting for the rights of women and here are we their sikhs who cannot even follow them, shame on you...

Women and men are equal. And who told you that a sikh man has different set of rules than sikh women. They never had and never will...

Kachherais a type of clothing, a uniform. If a person wants to wear an underwear under that or above it, it's their choice.

Atleast they are wearing a kachhera, there are people out there who even don't do that.

We need people who know what gurbani says, not anyone who says this should be done if you are male and this if you are a female. I agree females have periods, but didn't they have at that time? They managed, now there is a lot of undergarments available for both. So if anyone wears both, i won't ever say they are wrong.

If we are role models, what has your generation done, you don't know one thing about sikhi. You are the ones who turned away from everything and anything that comes your way with ur petty arguments. From childhood you tell your children we are equal and they you go and say this. Let me tell you something, Manning up is the leat thing that our Guru would say. Sikhs don't man up, sikhs already are an army. And yeah, language is too bad, which is another thing ur generation has given us, slangs, too much of them. Having so much of ego in yourselves.

Have you ever worn a real kachhera (of the type prescribed by Guru Gobind Singh ji)?

If you did, I think you would find it very comfortable.

Don't be an oreo, bro. You don't have to follow every stupid trend in Men's Health magazine.

You can, though, if you want to.

Just don't claim you're following maryada.

That's not the only thing. It's not merely a symbol. Otherwise, you could just walk around carrying a picture of a kachhera in your wallet.

The point of telling someone to man up is to take up masculine virtues. Neither I nor "Guest Singhh" made this up. Why do you think Bhai Gurdas II, respected by the entire panth called Guru Gobind Singh ji the "Marad (manly man) Agumda"?

Mai Bhago was taking up masculine virtues, which are exactly what are needed in war.

On the other hand, it is also necessary for men to take up feminine qualities, which are necessary to do seva, be humble, and sing music (kirtan).

The problem in the panth is we have entirely too little masculinity at the moment, that's why people are telling Sikhs to man up.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
