As I long suspected ...false counts of sikhs

Recommended Posts

Does that take into count of particular groups who are seen as Sikhs by other people, but have actually been excommunicated? (Akal Takth specifically mentions what it needs to be a Sikh)

I would guess that is without those groups as the bibi names to groups she is counting sikhligars and vanjarey, kabirpanthis, ravisdasias, naamdev followers, not narakdhari, radha soamis, naamdharis (complex)

Yeah i don't think they include the sikh siklighar, banjara etc population in the Sikh figures but classify them as Hindus. But how much are the Sikh leaders in Punjab even doing for these other Sikhs, nothing at all tbh

When i went Hazur Sahib i was surprised to see how many of the local people were Sikhs. I remember seeing local ladies wearing saree's but were also wearing kirpan, kara and were Amritdharis. At first glance you would think they were Hindus but look closely and you realize they are Amritdhari Sikhs.   I'm sure its the same at patna sahib as well

I was also surprised to see muslims at Hazur Sahib! and the muslim women would even remove the bit that covers their faces when entering the gurdwara

ive also been saying this for AGES, thats the h@rami brahmins have been distirting sikh stats for decades, whether thats population count, growth, literacy rate etc.Im not sure its quite 150m tho, otherwise that would mean, there r more sikhs outside of panjab, than within it. This is all done to kill our haunsla and make us give up!

For as long as I can remember I've had a doubt about the low 'official' numbers quoted of sikhs especially since there seems to a world approach of lumping us into the OTHERS category to hide us

Atrocious article. Fails to give any detail whatsoever.

While it is true that that "forgotten" Sikhs like Sikligars and Vanjaras aren't being counted as Sikh, that doesn't mean that the Punjabi Sikh population is actually larger than it is.

The census does accurately reflect declining total fertility rate among Punjabi Sikhs.

Yeah, it's 2%, the same percentages as Sikhs are of all of India.

The only reason you may have thought a huge amount of the local people were Sikhs was because you never ventured out beyond the lanes surrounding Hazur Sahib. 99% of Sikhs visiting Hazur Sahib go out and see the city of Nanded.

It's kind of like saying, "the world is becoming Sikh" because you did a sample on the streets outside of the Darbar Sahib.
