I highly doubt this is true. Joshua Project which is hellbent on converting all of India to Christianity at least has a good measure on statistics and according to them there are only 19,000 Sikh Sikligars. Even if we counted in the Hindu Sikligars, the total amounts to only 99,000 or 1 Lakh. This is nowhere near the numbers this individual is claiming. 

However I do agree with the premise that the government does glaze over certain Sikhs and labels them as Hindus as well as non-Punjabi Sikhs being unsure of their religious identity, Sindhis being a good example of this.

Bullsh×t . if there were 150 million sikhs, 1984 wouldnt have happened. 150 million is a huge number . Thats tbe amount of muslims there.

Having 150 million Sikhs or not doesn't have to do with whether 1984 would have happened.

The fact is governments rely on the fact that masses of people are usually cowed by a show of force. No one wants to be "that guy", the guy that gets mowed down with bullet fire.

Of course, if even 50000 people were to step forward, forget 150 million, Indira's army couldn't have done a thing. They could have killed maybe 10000, but they'd probably run out of bullets after that. And then the other 40000 would overpower the remaining soldiers.

But who wants to be among that first 10000? Nobody, that's why it doesn't matter if you had 150 million.

In any case, the poorly written article wasn't claiming 150 million Sikhs in Punjab. It was referencing a claim about "forgotten Sikhs" in other states of India who aren't being properly counted as Sikhs.

When you can't fix the problem within the community, 

then better to bury your head in sand and make bizzare claims like these ! 

I raised this issue a while back but didn't get much enthusiasm from people here.

facts are sikhs who have forgotten Guru Pita ji's lessons _-about helping poor bretheren by marrying and supporting their kids as our own, about embracing chotti jaati as equals 'Ranghrete Guru ka bete'. about not holding faith in promises given on gita, quran etc , about bringing distant sangat's under the main panth's protection e.g. Kabul sangat, pakistan sangat, Assam. Sikkim Gurdwara Dongmaar saga would never have happened if Main panth looked after and shared interest in their affairs . People mewling about numbers are less ...they are not as low as people would have us believe . This is the point we REALLY are a MULNIVASI dharam because we didn't arrive from somewhere else to implant ourt readymade dharam like the 'hindus'  . We belong on the soil of 'India' more than the claimed Arya Brahminism that is the root of Hinduvta which was an imported faith . I have read and heard many times in many places that people feel happier to have things under sikhi than the nightmare That is manuvadi brahminism . The people have had enough the 75% who are treated lesser and are regularly punished and told to accept their fate uncomplainingly.

Hmm, very good point, I haven't heard that expressed anywhere else, but it can be arguably thought to be absolutely true.
