He real reason the sodhak committee took these banis out was because they had a lot of hindu iconography which didnt go well with their missionary brains. 

Other banis that were left out are Brahm Kavach(which also says to do havan), bhagaouti astotar, asfokat swayie etc

As far as was taught as a kid in sikhi even leaving one akkar out is wrong , Gurbani is complete , without fault and should be unbroken both literally (larivaar) and in spirit (human interpretation such how may banian etc is not required)

but Havan for a khalsa is doing naam simran from what I was told .

there are places in puratan granths where it tells of sikhs (such as baba deep singh)doing havan etc

Ill post up the brahm kavach bani where it talks about havan

after Naina Devi Havan didn't Guru Pita ji say that he wanted to break sikhs from old bharam of Havan and Hom karna thus he agreed to Pandit's proposal ? Or is this a change on the sakhi?
