These people are everywhere - uk, europe, bollywood etc.

Know someone who grew up on the border between afghanistan and pakistan province (can't remember where exactly) and moved to europe at a young age but recently moved to the uk with his wife and 5 daughters for less taxes/restriction of movement and more benefits/freedom etc. Lots of siblings/relatives in the same places too.

Can't speak about north/west london but as for birmingham...
