It would be great to have gyms and training akharas inside the Gurdwaras around the UK, but I think the general problem is the lack of youth who would actually use theses facilities.  Most post millennial youth are the kind of metrosexual types who are more into the skinny jeans and girly haircuts.  The Sikhs who do use these facilities in Gurdwara Sahibs are usually the Kabaddi crew which brings a whole load of other problems associated with the sport (Punjabiat, Alcohol, Steroid abuse etc).  The Singhs who do workout and train in combat sports usually have an interest so regardless whether it’s in a Gurdwara or some facility in town they will go and find these places and develop their skills.  The eye of the tiger stuff!

But having this way of life encouraged through Gurdwaras would be a fantastic introduction to the upcoming youth.

We need drastic changes to all Gurdwaras

Ideas

It should be mandatory for all Gurdwaras to have a training room ie a Gym and some kind of self defence or fighting skill taught free of charge.

We need to hire trained martial artist of or other self defence discpline teacher to train the youth.

One of the fundemental beliefs in Sikhism is that we should be armed and trained. Ready to defend ourselves and others.

Yet Gurdwara space and resources is going unused.

This will also attract the youth into the gurdwaras as their will be many types of activities available for them.

I also think there should archery ranges and gun shooting ranges in gurdwaras, seriously, especially in big gurdwaras. Also wrestling / mal yudh is important to be taught as well, a tradition since Guru Angad Dev ji. Wrestling combined with weapons shastar vidiya is a good overall martial artist.

Almost perfect. Need raag keertan according to gurmat. Also need proper weapons training instead of the morris dancing they were doing in the background near the end of the video.

That Gora Sikh in USA was holding classes to teach Sikhs to use Guns , it's even on Youtube. I forgot his name, but he's pretty famous, he met Sant Bhinderwala and had converted to Khalsa. He said, alot of kids aren't interested in guns and weapons and he was having trouble finding students

At the very least we can have pamphlets on shastar vidya/survival basics. Could we fund the Basics of Sikhi team to do this?
