Waheguru ji ka khalsa waheguru ji ki fateh..

I have just started tying a punjabi turban(Patiala shahi) and one of my cousins told me that sikhs are Specifically meant to wear a dumalla. He said that any other turban except a dumalla is made by the british apparently. So i have a question in sikhi is it compulsory to just wear a dumalla or is it fine wearing any other turban?

Dumalla has a meaning - it’s the turban sikhs wore to battle. It was the best option at that time staying really secure and protecting your head. Sikhi is about living with the times. And sikhs are about values, whats the point of walking around in a dumalla if your not willing to help others, do seva for. Not about physical appearance only

Now a pagh is adequate moreover patiala sahahi is beautiful style of pagh started by maharajah bupinder singh patiala. Tie it with pride! ??

The british made the the pagh which has the /\ shape at the front. Some of the first "sikhs" to wear that pagh were British puppets like "maharaja" bhupinder singh of patiala and maharaja duleep singh. Even the singhs who fought in ww1 and ww2 were given paghs with the /\ shape at the front to wear by the british.  But times have changed now, that was a long time ago      i guess its ok to wear it now ...

Here is a photo of maharaja bhupinder singh of patiala, its from him and his family that the patiala shahi pagh started. But he was a sellout and worshiped the goreh ...

Gurus tied Mughal Turbans. Since the 1700s to 1850s Sikhs tied what's now the Namdhari style. During Sikh Empire era, Sikhs started covering the normal Namdhari style with the /\ turban, using the other one as the fifty. Rest is pretty obvious
