An interesting note. All the cult deras in Panjab/Haryana were started by former Sikhs.

Dera Sucha Soda / Radhoswami / Nirankaris / Namdharis etc were all started by former Sikhs , who all wanted to  change mainstream khalsa and eventually formed into their own religion. So , we have to look at the root of the problem. Ask ourselves, why isn't this a problem in islam, why aren't there 100's of cults started under islam , and then find ways to fix it. The main followers of these cults are always low class / hindoos / dalits . So as I keep saying , if the SGPC keeps ignoring these problems and refuse to convert people into Khalsa , Panjab will just become a land of deras.

Side note = Dera Sucha Soda was perceived to have around 40 million followers in Panjab /Haryana / Rajastan .... 10-20 million more than Sikhism ...... Yikes.

Bollywood is also ran by gangs(underworld) politicians, businessmen.   Back in the 70s/80s many actresses even got involved with the gangsters and terrorists. basically wherever money is abundant consider it being backed by politicians, gangs etc   and other corrupt involvement

its the same for the filthy rich deras

The SGPC is a jatt dominated organisation as it always has been.

You will find that the folk who usually go to these dera's are sikhs from the 'lower' social groups or castes - due to them being ill treated or not welcome to gurudwaras.

I

Not true in almost all cases!  It’s the women who flock to these Babeh and their Dereh looking for someone who can uplift their husbands out of Alcholism and Poverty.  When they go to these dereh they usually get low level jobs such sweeping roads and general cleaning of the dera grounds.  So in actual fact they are no better off in terms breaking away from cast related barriers, but their children get free education, medical care and jobs.  Radha Swami Dera in Bias is full of people sweeping the grounds from lower social groups.  Most of these Dera chele and premis etc have had no relationship with Gurughars so this notion of them being pushed away from Sikhi is completely false.  SGPC has definitely failed to unite and uplift poor communities but to be honest in most cases the only Guru and God that the people are interested in is the one who can fill this void so naturally the Baba and Dera will flourish.

these low level jobs such as sweeping etc - could be or would be Seva in most gurudwaras- however if these 'low castes' are denied entry - then quite simply they will go to deras - and do the seva there.

Im mean this the whole reason why we have caste based gurudwaras in the first place - because the equality simply wasnt there - that we so proudly speak of.

I agree with the person that says its mostly women. Women are the ones that go to babeh and then they drag their families in as well. But obviously in today's politically correct society you can't say that, you would just get labelled as sexist. Women are without fault and its wrong to criticism them! but yes they are allowed to bring men down however and whenever they like

i remember once walking through nawanshahr and i saw this "baba" openly giving this woman "treatment"  they were standing out in the open and he was rubbing her breast, tummy, hips etc and she was just stand in front of him with her arms held up!!!    i was like <banned word filter activated> !!

She obviously was a very intelligent lady, Im sure she's achieved wonders for her family after that treatment.

It's pretty known among learned elders that Deravaad and Babavaad start their following thru Bibian.

I don't give a <banned word filter activated> about PC talk, its the truth.

Deras and babeh are like rock stars and like most rock stars they have their groupies.

It just so happens that bibian are the groupies.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
