Yes! I remember them they hurt so bad, thing is they were the only chappla my mum had at that time so all the worse for me lol

I used to run and lock myself in the bathroom with moms chasing me and cursing outside. Then I'd wait for like 20 minutes until I thought the coast was clear (and things were quiet), but when I'd open the door to peek outside, she'd pounce out of nowhere, but I'd usually be able to slam the door in her face  before she got to me though. lol

Ahhh...such innocent times......

I think watching on helplessly as your siblings get properly savage beatings (sometimes for justifiable reasons mind you), was psychologically even worse than getting beats yourself sometimes.
