Do minorities exaggerate their history?

Do they, to increase their population and awareness, but should there be a point where they give up, and go into the masses?

That's for the minorities to decide if they want to go into the masses or not. People can identify themselves how they want to. Most people are attached to their heritage so its unlikely most people want to do that. People often chose their heritage to be their identity, so merging into the mass will be seen as a threat to their identity.

Generally the business of the dominant, usually oppressive, culture. 

Think education in say United States or North Korea.

Only jewish people do this.  It's all about nazis, they don't talk about anything else.
