Its well known that alot of muslims believe Guru Nanak was a Muslim.

The arguement they give is that Guru Ji travelled to mecca and so must have been a muslim.  ie no non muslims are allowed in Mecca. So how and why did Guru Nanak go there if no non Muslims is allowed there. There is only one way . if Guru pretended that he was a muslim to enter.

Also the story is was accompanied on this journey by Bhai Mardana who was a muslim who wanted to do the hajj pilgrimage and so Guru nanak accompanied him there.

Before in the old days Makkah/Mecca was not bordered etc. Like nowadays with technology since those Arabian countries are rich with their oil.

Guru Sahib never pretended to be a Muslim, if you went to Mecca there were just no guards or anything, I think

Why would Guru Nanak go to a place that is strictly out of bounds for non muslims?. Akin to breaking the law or something like that. Preeching in mecca in those times as is today would result in harsh penalty for a non muslims.

I think the whole idea that Guru Nanak went to mecca in the first place is not based on sound evidence

That is exactly the reason why Guru Ji went to Mecca, to break the rules of so called pious people who only payed lip service to worshipping the Almighty. When was Guru Ji ever scared to confront false rituals, Guru Ji went to Mecca to show the people the true path to God. It is written in Bhai Gurdass  //'s are you saying they are wrong also?

Guru Ji visited the centres of all the major eastern faiths. Guru Ji went to Varanasi, does that make Guru Ji a Hindu?

Guru Ji travelled all the way to Nepal and in to the Himalayas does that make Guru Ji a Buddhist ?

Only Guru Ji is claimed by all faiths, do the hindus claim Mohammad ? Do the muslims claim Krishan Ji? Glory be to Guru Nanak Dev Ji that all try to claim Guru Ji and the most amazing thing is that Guru Ji belongs to all of them, all they have to do is open their hearts to the love of Guru and the path is there to be followed.

it is the misunderstanding of just how Mecca and Medina were administered back in the time , at the time of Guru ji's visit there was still traders going to and from both  and they were not all muslim ...the complex was under Ottoman rule during Guru ji's visit , the administration of the towns went to khatard muslamaan on the change of empire controlling and that is when the doors closed to non-muslims .

Guru ji went to ALL the centres of the major religions at the time to do parchaar of sikhi: hindu (sadhu, sanyasi, yogis, jains, buddhists, muslims shia and sunni, Catholic church . I suspect judaism also (referred to as part of kateb family)

I doubt Bhai Mardana ji would be so dhila in his faith of Guru ji that he would request to go haaj ... people it seems have used this angle because they cannot connect the dots and see the message's need to travel to the hearts of all previous faiths.

They say in those times, the requirement to visit mecca was that u believed in 1 God.

Also the saakhi we have of Guru Nanak Dev ji is that Guru ji traveled with the hajjis. And pointed their feet toward mecca. Doesnt really say if they went into the kabba.or if they completed the whole hajj.

Perhaps Guruji was trying to teach the hajjis that God is everywhere. And Gurujis conversation with a qazi is recorded.

Also janam sakhis, complied by bhai vir singh tell of this visit. It names the qazi who talked with guruji.

Also there is a new manuscript found written in arabic, by muslims who converted to sikhi in the middle easr. Bhai pinderpal singh talk abt it.

You arent willing to look into historical document or do research. But u want proof. Dont be like shallow like most ppl in the internet are. Take a few things and start selling it to ppl and arfuing with ppl.

    • yeh it's true, we shouldn't be lazy and need to learn jhatka shikaar. It doesn't help some of grew up in surrounding areas like Slough and Southall where everyone thought it was super bad for amrit dharis to eat meat, and they were following Sant babas and jathas, and instead the Singhs should have been normalising jhatka just like the recent world war soldiers did. We are trying to rectifiy this and khalsa should learn jhatka.  But I am just writing about bhog for those that are still learning rehit. As I explained, there are all these negative influences in the panth that talk against rehit, but this shouldn't deter us from taking khanda pahul, no matter what level of rehit we are!
    • How is it going to help? The link is of a Sikh hunter. Fine, but what good does that do the lazy Sikh who ate khulla maas in a restaurant? By the way, for the OP, yes, it's against rehit to eat khulla maas.
    • Yeah, Sikhs should do bhog of food they eat. But the point of bhog is to only do bhog of food which is fit to be presented to Maharaj. It's not maryada to do bhog of khulla maas and pretend it's OK to eat. It's not. Come on, bro, you should know better than to bring this Sakhi into it. Is this Sikh in the restaurant accompanied by Guru Gobind Singh ji? Is he fighting a dharam yudh? Or is he merely filling his belly with the nearest restaurant?  Please don't make a mockery of our puratan Singhs' sacrifices by comparing them to lazy Sikhs who eat khulla maas.
    • Seriously?? The Dhadi is trying to be cute. For those who didn't get it, he said: "Some say Maharaj killed bakras (goats). Some say he cut the heads of the Panj Piyaras. The truth is that they weren't goats. It was she-goats (ਬਕਰੀਆਂ). He jhatka'd she-goats. Not he-goats." Wow. This is possibly the stupidest thing I've ever heard in relation to Sikhi.
    • Instead of a 9 inch or larger kirpan, take a smaller kirpan and put it (without gatra) inside your smaller turban and tie the turban tightly. This keeps a kirpan on your person without interfering with the massage or alarming the masseuse. I'm not talking about a trinket but rather an actual small kirpan that fits in a sheath (you'll have to search to find one). As for ahem, "problems", you could get a male masseuse. I don't know where you are, but in most places there are professional masseuses who actually know what they are doing and can really relieve your muscle pains.
