Brother,

after death,  you go there,  what you have earned during lifetime.

If you earn sins(paap), or better said even , you have done everything according to all  religious practices or beliefs(punya), but you have not earned  His Name(true Dharam), then you are  bound to go to the wheel of 84, which is a hell by itself.

In this respect, following are a few verses of Fifth Patshahee from Sukhmani Sahib, where Guru Jee  gives us direct  and clear instructions, as per what we ought to do, to avoid the endless cycles of births, deaths & reincarnations

 

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਗਰਭਿ ਨ ਬਸੈ ॥

Prabh Kai Simaran Garabh N Basai ||

प्रभ कै सिमरनि गरभि न बसै ॥

Remembering God, one does not have to enter into the womb again.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਦੂਖੁ ਜਮੁ ਨਸੈ ॥

Prabh Kai Simaran Dhookh Jam Nasai ||

प्रभ कै सिमरनि दूखु जमु नसै ॥

Remembering God, the pain of death is dispelled.

ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੈ ਸਿਮਰਨਿ ਕਾਲੁ ਪਰਹਰੈ ॥

Prabh Kai Simaran Kaal Pareharai ||

प्रभ कै सिमरनि कालु परहरै ॥

Remembering God, death is eliminated.

 

That is why from the very begining of this Bani, Guru Jee  tells us: 

ਸਿਮਰਉ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸੁਖੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥

Simaro Simar Simar Sukh Paavo ||

सिमरउ सिमरि सिमरि सुखु पावउ ॥

Meditate, meditate, meditate in remembrance of Him, and find peace.

He says:  do His Simran, by meditating on Him, through His Nao, and you shall find eternal peace, whiche means you shall merge in Him, for once and ever, that is real peace, and permanent eternal bliss.

So brother, if we have even two cents of budhee, let us not do what the whole world do,  rather follow implicitly and faithfully the directions given above by Guru Sahiban, to avoid deaths, and become immortal as Him, by merging in Him.

Vāhigurū gur jāpaē vāhigurū kar dhiān

Those Sikhs of the guru who remember Waheguru attentively,

Are endowed with salvation, remember, O Gursikh! (40)

Satsiṅg jāi kar citt ḍulāvai ॥

The one who participates in the true-congregation half-heartedly

ਭਾਈ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ : ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਮਾ ਪੰ. ੧੩ 

ਈਹਾਂ ਉੁਹਾਂ ਠੋਰ ਨਾ ਪਾਵੈ ॥ (੪)

Īhān uhān ṭhōr nā pāvai ॥ (4)

Will find shelter nowhere.(4)

ਭਾਈ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ : ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਮਾ ਪੰ. ੧੪ 

 

ਹਰਿ ਜਸ ਸੁਣਤੇ ਬਾਤ ਚਲਾਵੈ ॥

Hari jas suṇtē bāt chalāvai ॥

While listening to the celestial glories, (one who) starts idle-talks,

ਭਾਈ ਨੰਦ ਲਾਲ ਜੀ : ਤਨਖ਼ਾਹ ਨਾਮਾ ਪੰ. ੧੫ 

ਕਹੇ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਵੋਹ ਜਮ ਪੁਰ ਜਾਵੇ (੫)

Kahē gōbind siṅgh vōh jam pur jāvē (5)

Says Gobind Singh, goes to the hell.(5)
