Kes Maryada

Sangat Ji,

Does anyone know of the correct maryada for disposing of Kes that falls out during combing? I have heard before that burning it is the correct; if so, is there any specific Bani to be read / other maryada points to be aware of whilst doing so? (any historical sources would be extra helpful!)

Just burning alone will suffice. Another method's setting them in "clean" running stream but thas got complications, ranging from "litter" to where you are. Third method's burying them but who gonna dig a hole deep enough?

I heard on a Basics of Sikhi Katha that you should collect fallen Kesh put them in a clean bag for respect and give them to the Gurdwara Sahib where they can do Satkar of the Kesh.

Is this really a thing ? Does it come from the Guru Grant Sahib Ji?

Well Kesh is the Guru's gift and should be treated very highly, it's for respect. Some say you should treat your Kesh with the utmost respect like Guru Sahib.

Yeah but did our Gurus tell us to do this ? If not, you are (not you personally) introducing practices, that our Gurus did not.

Yeah I don't know much but that's what lots of Gursikhs do, they burn the fallen out Kesh and do an Ardas and some Paath.
